VF tuning collaboration and BS

I made a similar tune without the VVT adjustments, injection split and Atkinson cycle adjustments. Doesn’t seem to do it anymore. Not sure if it’s one of those adjustments that needs some tweaking in that specific area or the combination of all 3.

 

I mean if I’m being honest a V8 sounds awesome lol. But this is good info thanks I need to tweak mine to accommodate mountain driving here in CO

 

Can you elaborate on this? Wasn't the 10th map of that category being talked about on here? Seemed to produce favorable results.

 

Tried this out tonight, but the tip-in is way too sensitive for me. My wife drives my truck on occasion, and touchy tip-in makes her sick, literally. We've got ice and snow coming tomorrow, and it's a definite no-no for that.

What steps do I need to take to reduce it? I'm really a fan of the stock THX tip in that Mat provided for VFT. I've been perusing the forums, but I can't keep up with all of the changes he's is making to the software. Seems that the table structure has changed since the last post I can find about anything related to it.

 

Go to throttle limits S tables and reduce numbers in 1st 3 columns for 1st and 2 gear

 

S tables? Even if I'm not using S mode?

Check your vF Tuner Install Folder. All the Stock .vft files are in there, for more Toyota models than you'll ever want to F with.

There are the 17 maps; then, there is one "...for sport mode".

Don't copy the sport mode map to the other 17.

I tried this because OV said "build yourself a base 3D torque map and set all of them the same" (and because I was trying to fix/diagnose another issue).

 

Did things go boom?

 

No, it just shifted about 10 times as much as necessary.

Had to select S mode to get where I was going... ironic.
(Don't know if that would have worked without gear lock set up.)

 

Has anyone tried setting them all to match #9? That's what we changed 10 to to try and address some issues... Maybe that's what he was hinting at???

Edit: saw you already answered, excessive shifting.

 

Look at each table and separate by how similar they are to eachother
Combine these by like-ness
This should leave you with 4 variants.

You can then compare areas of each 4, combining and smoothing into 1
(except Sport mode)

it should result in something *similar* to this.
But you'll have to retune your 2D up/down tables too.
