Transmission arrives this week. Hoping to get it in this weekend. Also scored a deal of a comfy PRP driver seat and harness setup. Quick release sparco steering wheel on its way too. Should feel a lot better in the driver seat now!

Juuuust waiting on the wheel now.

I'm really looking forward to having a more flickable smaller steering wheel.

I've always had my legs bunched up a bit so I can have the steering wheel close to me. Always felt more comfortable like that but didn't realize how hard it is to get out with a bucket seat like this in my sitting position, even with a tilt column.

You may find that the quick release adds some length to the column which pushes it away from the turn signal & wiper controls. Won't be able to reach them with your fingers with your hands still on the wheel anymore

Looking right now! I work underground from sunrise to sunset and cannot have my phone below because of explosion hazard. So by the end of the day I'm extremely tired and half the time don't really look all that close at everything incoming :/

Interesting... That's probably going to drive me nuts. I wonder how delicate that little turn stock would be to heat up and bend. I don't feel optimistic because of the small switch and stuff inside it.

I definitely wouldn't wanna try and bend the turn stock. Especially with 19 year old plastics n shit. You can just ditch the quick release part of the hub and run just the adapter and wheel. That will put it closer where you'll be able to reach.

I know that you have already bought your quick release but test fit everything first without bolting in the quick release and see if you like the spacing. NRG makes a slimmer one that's roughly half as thick as the one you purchased. I purchased the NRG adapter, slim quick release and a Sparco steering wheel for my MR2 and it is roughly the same distance out as the factory steering wheel. No issues with utilizing the factory blinker/wiper controls. If the quick release you bought sticks too far out, just return it and buy the slim version.

That is some awesome feedback. Thank you Kerby. I'll give it a non-bolted mock up this weekend and see how I feel. With what you guys are saying, I am expecting this to stick out quite further then. Might have to go with the slim version as the wheel may literally be in my chest now...

Boom! The hub spacing is just fine for me and no issues reaching the turn stock with my long fingers.

I believe this is the slimmer one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...a&pd_rd_w=CHd2n&pd_rd_wg=23OqD&ref_=pd_gw_unk.

Look at the video in the reviews...operates much different.

I use my middle finger for my turn signal stock. My finger is noticeably further from it, but I can still reach it just fine with this setup. My wheel has about an 1-1/2 inches of rise towards me. If it was anymore than that such as a 2" or 3" deep dish wheel I would probably have an issue reaching the turn signal without lifting my hand.

What I really like about this quick release is I can put the wheel on upside down, spin it, and it snaps into place. To remove I just pull on the collar. Its an automatic motion as you remove the wheel.

With the shorty hub, you have the reach into it, find the little protruding nubs to grip it with you fingers and rotate the collar. To put the wheel on, you have to have it facing (I believe) upright and carefully rotate the collar the quarter turn back on to lock it again.

Don't get me wrong, the shorty absolutely has its purpose in situations, but in my opinion if the standard one works fine for anyone's fitment I would highly recommend it over the shorty.

Thanks for the info. I was less worried about reaching the turn signal etc and more concerned with the wheel being to close to me. I’ll do some looking and order soon hopefully

Yea, the link Tyler posted is the one I was referring to. Honestly though I'm starting to think they no longer make the one I bought as it is similar to style Tyler bought but it is not near as thick (it was bought over 6 years ago). Both styles work but being able to put the wheel on in any orientation and rotate it till is locks is super convenient. The linked slim version only has one orientation that the wheel can go back on in.

In its rough stages right now but did a little filler plate where the license plate fits nicely. Going to drop the transmission today and couple the crawl box and transfer case to the new to me transmission.

    Guys, some awesome news!

I've never had anything with a short shift kit on it before. However, I put the LC Engineering kit on this transmission and bench tested it. I'm surprised with how small the swing is now. For some reason it always felt like I was taking a massive swing going from fourth to fifth. Now it's just a subtle movement.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this works out on the road. Currently waiting on my crawl box sealant to dry.

Okay, I'm ready to try this again... Lol.

Fingers crossed. She's going in tomorrow.

I'm so frustrated right now guys. I have more leaks again between the crawl box and transmission. To top the cake on all that, there is a crack I found on the top corner on the transmission.

I just split them apart and going to weld the crack right now. I'm kicking myself for buying a decent priced used transmission on ebay as I couldn't find anything local. Wish I would have just bought from Marlin Crawler.
