We got a sloppy snow storm last night, which the rain is slowly melting. Good news.. county road crews were out several times overnight doing their thing. Our property taxes doubled recently, so I'm sure they're getting more complaints about everything.

Good morning gentlemen. We got just enough snow here in northern WI. to make a mess of things.

I actually have two plows set up. This is my original ride - a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak 450. Still runs like a champ. The only downsides are that your butt is out in the cold and you have to hop off to angle the blade left or right. Still, I use it sometimes when the snow is light. It stays up in the garage at the house.

    Kodiak 450.jpg

This is a picture of the Cub Cadet Challenger 750 from our big storm this past December. Heated cab, power angle blade....the luxury ride. :rofl:I keep this one down in the garage attached to our barn.

    Good morning all,

Nice rig Col, I am more like Will in N WI, we have a Kaw 750 Brute with a blade - exposed and manual blade swing. I did modify the shoes from the small aluminum to a Werner set of truck blade shoes. Those little aluminum shoes wear out to quickly on gravel.

I do have a 42" snow blower with auto propel but do not use that very often - it can really throw the rocks - had to replace two windows one winter.

Have a great day everyone, our next round of snow is coming later this week..

    Only three are actually mine.
    Two for repair.
One on right next to orange Ariens and outside right are now gone.
Two more under deck for rebuild.

Never had a need for a blower, but a couple times every 10 years or so we get 18-24"+ WISH I owned one.

OK tell me, besides just aging what is the most common cause of death? Of snowblowers.

    honestly it’s a combo

    the causes are easily avoidable.

    Ethanol fuel.
Run carb dry on every use.
    Use stable or like.
Or make your own ethanol free fuel.
    Oil change every year.
    Rust.
    they sit more than run.
    Keep salt off of it.
    Lube all moving parts.
Spray fluid film or similar on at least the auger area and chute.
Wash it when it goes to storage.
    Again lube everything.

    2 year old Cub Cadet.
Destroyed the auger box with rust.
Made a new lower half just for a backup blower for someone.

To me old gas causes most of the issues. Not necessarily kills them but boogers them up. I run ethanol free premium gas in all my small engines, atv and utv. I run some sea foam through them a couple times a year and keeps the fuel system clean.

I love it when they put old mower gas in new vehicles.
Gives me about a $2,000 paycheck sometimes..

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Mark about a year or so back I said to my Siste-InLaw maybe you could try to "stream" the Cardinals baseball boadcast (after a dropped sports deal with Dish Sat. and Fox Sports). Lets try it over your slow AT&T copper ( twisted pair -not even Coax) DSL line with speeds of maybe 7-8 meg download and 1-3 meg upload. Probably won't work but I thought - well lets give it a try. To my great surprise -IT WORKED.
Meanwhile I was getting up to speed with my Centurylink fiber 80meg. WE were sharing a netflix and UTUBE TV account with my son. Linda -SIL said can I get that -- of course again I said I don't think it would work -- Again it did. Today I (we) share a Utube tv, netflix and Amazon prime account with her still for way less per month we were paying for Dish. Of course she can't get 4k broadcast from Netflix and Prime like we can -- but we are both happy campers.
Don't underestimate what even slower DSL's can bring you -till you try it -you may be pleasantly suprised as we were!
I think the key is not having too much on a slower internet connection -or a bunch of kiddos using the heck out of the connection
