I had one 07 with 130k and it was a great car, but lots of rust. Like when I had a blow out and I couldn't drop the spare

Had a 98 or 99 with 160 I think. Also ran well but also a lot of rust. Had a decent size hole in the frame. So just depends on the condition I guess

I think we are headed to Utah, but we will probably make that decision about June 1st.

We have a 16' 4runner with 70k miles. A little rusty, but not too bad on the frame. The only issues we've had is the tailgate sticking sometimes, other wise its been pretty bulletproof. We will keep it until our Bronco allocation, so probably another year, end it with about 80k miles.

I think it could EASILY do another 80k, and if we fluid filmed it, I think it would last forever.

@Spare Parts I did Utah for the Ford driving school when I had a Focus ST. Basically just hung around Salt Lake and did some hiking in the surrounding mountains. Beautiful. Very nice place and we would go back. Everything closed early and I think their beer is weak? Flew out with some bud/edibles as I didn't want to try to buy any in a state like that.

10/10 would go back, really didn't even touch the state or get to see any of the parks. That area of USA is fucking awesome though, that whole corner.

edit: Get a rental that can move, I had a fiesta ST that I requested and I was consistently over 100mph on their highways. WIDE OPEN is an understatement. The driving school said there are apparently plenty of highway police around the schools where people just came from racing around. But I don't think I saw a single one the entire week.

We plant to go back to Zion, Arches and check out the other places in that area we didn’t get to. I just ordered a RTT Alastair night, so we will probably take the truck, although the 4Runner is always a possibility.

oh and I can see triple digit speed out there, I would be fibbing if I didn’t own up to see some of those type of numbers in the runner, let’s just say the super charger loved 80 plus, while pulling a pop up.

Ha! Sounds like fun. I like the 4Runner better for long drives but if you have the tent now... either way should be a great trip

plusses and minuses. Kipping up in the 4R means you have a watertight sleeping arrangement good to go when you pull up. Don’t have to be perfectly level etc etc. I like cab setups more but also I think he’s got 2 people and a dog so more space in the tent.

Man... I been looking at doing the same trip up to Tuktoyaktuk at some point in my life. Would like to hit Yellowknife on the way up too. Then maybe do a longer run of going to Utqiagvik (Barrow), Alaska a different time. I want to set up the truck for those trips. I plan on getting a cap for the bed at some point so I can sleep in there. I will definitely do some cross country stuff too. Been a while since I have done a long road trip...

There’s one being planned on TW this July timeframe. It’s a bit too soon for me. I’m prepping my truck for this road trip first. This will be a test of the setup for extended trips. Learning lessons while I’m still in short range of a Walmart if needed. Fun note. I did 6500 ish miles down to Austin and hill country Texas and back in July. A lot of it was highway (shockingly) but I thought I’d see Walmart’s and burger kings left and right. I did see a lot of burger kings but funnily enough, from the highways I only saw 9 Walmart’s. I only started counting around Michigan when I started to realize it so there might have been one or two elsewhere but I was able to count 9. Saw a countless number of XXX stores though...

I might do tuktayuktuk next year. If I can arrange one. I figure with unknown travel restrictions this year, and something planned for March 20th in Amarillo, and wanting to do the cannonball run “route”, the stars aligned for this one this year and tuktayuktuk next year at the earliest. Make sure this setup works, and then I’ll get some E load tires for up there. The trip for this year is rendezvousing on Ontario I think. If I do that trip after I move to Austin it’s more than 2 weeks. I’m appreciative my boss gave me the green light for 2 weeks come March.

edit: my playlist ranges from shakira to megadeth so I feel ya.

Yeah man I hear ya! I won't be able to do anything this year since I just started a new job but would love to do the Trans-Labrador Highway at first as that is on my bucket list as well.

That's awesome man! Austin is a fun city. Definitely keep us posted on trips/rig! Would love to see some pictures! You can never have enough XXX stores too! Especially, in the more rural areas hahaha!

Nope, little further, just at the state line. Was outside working all day yesterday and will be today cutting firewood for my dad. Guy he knows is clearing a lot for a house and is letting people come take the wood. It’s all oak and cherry, but big stuff so it’s a lot of work to move it. This photo doesn’t do it justice. To put it in perspective, the one beach sticking up above the pile, i’m going to cut off the morning, we’ll cut it up and it will be a full trailer load by itself. At the base, that branch is 16-18” diameter, the base tree was a monster!

I tried keeping the tractor out. It’s the landowner and I wasn’t sure he’d want his picture taken. It’s a nice, new Kubota with a grapple bucket on the front and the box blade in the back.

they’re always the least subtle too. Like the weed stores are “Katie’s cannabis kookies” and stuff. Like it’s clear what they do but not overly obnoxious. These are like BOBS XXX EMPORIUM. I did pass one in I think Houston thst was like Sarah’s secret shop or something. Only one that was subtle.

yeah I haven’t actually started the build yet. Planning a build and adventure thread. I started to pull some measurements and will probably start ordering stuff this week and actually tearing into it later in February.

nice. I spend some time on Facebook and CL just finding free firewood posts. We had a wind storm come through in like august that I was able to get a decent amount from.
