2011 Gas mileage experiences

Apologies because I am sure this has been a million times over...but what are some experiences of gas mileage estimates on a 2011 V6 Auto Access cab 4x4 Tacoma?
I've been trying to read up a little on what to actually expect.
I have a 30 minute commute each way to work everyday(40 miles total), mostly driving 55 mph steadily and only a few stop lights at end of commute.
Wondering if I will be able to get at least 18 mpg.s???

 

yes u will.

 

And it will get better after you break it in, and continue to get better for the first 10k in my experience.

I drive 30-40 minutes to work, mostly highway speeds, and I think I'm around 17-18. But I expect it to improve a bit, since I've only had it for 2 months.

 

With a v6 Prerunner auto, at 55 mph, I get between 22 and 26 mpg on an average day commute on a slightly hilly back country highway with two stop signs and a couple of short slow-downs in small towns.

 

Expect mileage to improve during break-in. It will likely be worse in cold weather. Longer trips will break-in the truck with highway miles.

I just completed a ~1200mi trip with my '11 V6 DC LB Auto 4x4 in which we ranged from 17.1 to 20.5mpg with 240lbs of sandbags in the bed, 2 occupants, and luggage in the back seat. The trip was between Eastern WA through Western OR and down into Northern Cali. We averaged 18.67mpg (non-weighted for miles traveled). Those mpgs are with the above listed conditions on some hills, but the flat part was where we got 20.5mpg.

I expect the mpgs to improve more over the life of my beautiful Kirsch

 

My first tank was 16.5, then 2nd went to 18.2, I just filled up #3 tank and it was at 18.6. Also to note is that so far I have been unable to make any long road trips, the longest being about 25 miles so far. Also to note is, that here in Ky it has been cold, lots of single digits and teens while driving. I will be running to Florida the day after Christmas so should have a better call on economy. Hope to hit 20 on that long run.

 

Awesome. Sounds better than I thought. Kept reading online that folks were only getting about 14mpg.s.

You should be able to get 18 mpg. I get between 18 and 19 with my 2011 Tacoma TRD Double cab. (Normal Driving)

 

You will definatly get 18 over with that kind of commute. I average around 18mpg all time with lot of idling, offroading, having fun in the snow... And a lot of city driving. The trick is is to keep it slow on your highway miles, it will keep your average down.

I have a 2010 left over, and on my 3rd tank of gas so far about 18.5 MPG. so I guess you are in the ball park...

 

I haven't gotten over 16mpg n I'm on my 4th tank. Does havin a 6speed make that much difference? I have about 25 minutes of idle time a day. Commute 30 miles to work each way.

 

Seems right, per specs, 6spd get about 2 mpg less.

 

I've been getting anywhere from 16.3 to 21 mpg. I've been monitoring it each time I fill up.
My truck is only about two months old right now. I have noticed a mile per gallon difference in using premium 92-93 octane as opposed to regular 87 octane. When I first picked up the truck I was putting in premium because I thought I had read somewhere that it was preferred on the V6 engine. At that time I was averaging about 17.3-17.8 on my daily commute which is a lot of stop and go on the interstate. While also running premium I took a longer highway trip where I could maintain a consistent speed and averaged 21 mpg. I then ran a few tanks of the low grade 87 octane and could not get above 16.5 mpg with conservative driving. I also noticed that the engine seemed to have to work harder to get it up to speed. After two full tanks of 87 I went back to 93 cause as long as fuel stays above $3.20/gal the higher grade pays for itself when you figure cost per mile.

Hope this helps.

For those of you running 87 octane, try running a full tank of 93 and see if that doesn't get you guys another mile per gallon or better.

 

No problem unless you run LT snows but than you probably don't get snow where you live.

 

20011 DC 4x4 auto 17.5-18.75 is my best

 

I just filled up for the first time after buying my 2011 4x4 TRD Sport double cab. I was a little surprised, it was at 21 mpg.

 

19.5 lifetime MPG on my '09 v6 prerunner (so a couple hundred pounds less than the 4wd).

On the highway, I get 17-20 mpg at 70-75, and I get 22-26 mpg at 55-65.

 

2011 Dbl cab, long bed, 4x4 Sport Package, now has about 600 miles...and first full tank (that I put in)...it was right at 17 mpg. This was mixed driving to be sure...around town and some highway. Looking forward to an extended drive to Mammoth next week to see what it gets me with almost all highway miles.
