Roughly 36sqft to put in a tile backsplash in the kitchen. Would you go behind the fridge? It's currently standard size refrigerator and 101% fills in without seeing the wall behind it (extra 1%added for when it was wedged in and we had to pry it out).

Thoughts?

 

I prolly wouldn't. Will you ever see back there without moving the fridge?

 

Lol no one but if for whatever reason we put in a smaller fridge (will never happen) figured it should be something to consider. If there was no fridge you'd have some sort of tiling overlap into that space for the next person. Just not sure if I should care?

I should also mention that our fridge is built in to the cabinetry if that wasn't obvious. It doesn't sit on an end so it will have to have tile on both the left and right side of it either way.

 

Depending on what style of tile you using if maybe go behind the fridge 1” or so just to hide the edge and make it look cleaner.

 

She married and they have 3 boys( 2 or older than me and one younger than me) I talk to one of the ones that’s older than me quite a bit.

 

It will warm up as it goes down.

I was thinking the same thing. The sqft measurement doesn't account for spacing and I'm not sure what tile I want yet. Just trying to make sure I think of everything ahead of time.

Backsplash is really only for the spots on the wall where there is countertop, or a built in stovetop. I wouldn't put it behind the fridge. Plus, don't you have some type of box built around the fridge?

No box around the fridge when it sits in between cabinetry. It is surrounded by cabinets at the top and to the side, but the "backsplash" continues along the wall behind it.

I'll have to either do a small overlap into the back or maybe do some accent framing behind it so you can't just see a tile void behind it in case we ever get a different fridge.

Did you tell her she's got nice cookies?
