Once it gets down to 0F is the only time it's too cold to wash your truck.

Not sure what you mean. It’s the button similar to Onstar that came with the truck. The red color is a bit off in the pic, but that was just due to the lighting.

Yeah rub it in. Today wasn’t too bad like mid forties with rain. Tonight supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow but it will likely be back in the mid forties again in the next day or two. That’s the issue with KY winter doesn’t know what it is supposed to be. One day 60 next day 0. Makes it difficult to get used to the temp.

Yeah I’m sure you all up there are adjusted to the weather but here in KY we don’t quite handle it as well. How do you keep from your doors freezing shut. You live in a beautiful state but I am just too soft for your winters.

All you do is open the doors right after the wash and wipe them down quickly, even if you don't wipe them down you can just push on the doors to break the ice. The only time I've ever had a door that wouldn't open is from an ice storm, where my car was covered in 1/2" of ice (and that wasn't even in Minnesota, that happened in Missouri)

We had a storm come through last week and the doors were froze shut and I thought I was going to break something trying to get it open. I guess it’s time to kick my sons truck out of the garage. It’s difficult to do that since it was left to him by my dad when he passed a couple of years ago. Maybe the wife. Nope safer just leaving mine outside.

Just get a remote start module and remember to leave the heat on high before you get out of the truck. Works great for me.

That’s a good idea does anyone make one for manual trans? May look into it.

They do make them for manual, I see ads for it all the time on my Facebook. They are plug and play with your standard key fob, you click unlock 3 times and it engages the clutch start cancel, and turns the truck on.

If you happen upon a link please forward it to me. This is the only social media I mess with well this and LinkedIn. Generally I don’t do well with all the noise on other sites.

    Edit
Never mind I found a thread on here. Unless you have a recommendation.

Just an fyi. Each fall I wipe down the door seals to clean them. Then I spray silicone on them and wipe smooth. This will keep the seals from freezing during a typical SW Ontario winter.

I haven't researched it, since my wife would kill me if I got a remote start before her. So I was just letting you know it does exist.

Recommendation here. Not sure about the particular application for your needs. I put one of these in for an automatic transmission / push-to-start ignition. They have nine different types for the Tacoma.

The one I installed is not smartphone savvy but that is OK by me. There is an add-on option for the smartphone use.

After taxes this year I will probably get it for her, but I'd rather get Sumo bumpstops for my truck before remote start.
