    Updates;

    So it seems I was under-powering the subs, which made them sound shitty.

    Picked up a Sundown SFB-1000D Amp for $189 from my local store, Ordered KnukConcepts OFC 4Gauge wiring kit. Used the old Memphis 8 Gauge wiring for the speakers.

    Excuse the messy truck, its winter and I'm not in the mood to clean yet lol. Looks like I may have to modify the rear seat are to fit these in, so I may not end up doing that, this will have to do for now.

    This sundown Amp is great, its got the clipping light so you can fine tune your gain just right! These now hit hard and enough for my needs. Thanks to all those who helped.

    ORIGINAL POST;

    I am somewhat new to Subs and Amps. I want to make sure what I am doing is right and not burn or destroy anything.

    I recently purchased a Memphis MJME6D1T Box which comes with 2 6.5in Memphis Mojo 2OHM Subwoofers wired to 1ohm according to specs.

    I am running this setup on a Alpine MRV-M500 Monoblock 500watt amp; which is rated at 500watt at 2ohms. Seems a little underpowered for these Memphis subs but I'm not looking for killer thumps, just a little bass to help with the rest of the system, but so far according to many reviews these little subs are not the 700watt RMS they claim to be so my amp can drive them just perfect. I've also installed a 1 FARAD Capacitor to help.

    My head unit is a Pioneer 4500NEX.

    I'm running a Memphis 8 gauge kit, which I think is plenty but unsure if I should've gone with the 4 gauge instead, I'd figure since I'm not likely to push more than 500watts 8 gauge wiring should be okay?

    So my questions here is; Should I rewire the subwoofer setup for 2ohms ?

    Should I keep the 8gauge setup or should I just go ahead and upgrade to the 4 gauge wiring?

    Please ignore the ghetto-ness of where the sub box is haha, This is just wired up to test it, it will be put behind the seat once I rip out the plastics and squeeze it behind there.

    I want to make sure I have these questions answered before I finalize the install, so far with testings these are thumping hard and perfect.

    I don't have passengers lol and this is not where its final location will be, I'm ripping out the rear plastics behind the seat to squeeze it behind there. I took measurements and they will be a tight fit but a fit indeed if it all goes well.

    I'd look up some wiring diagrams on Crutchfield as well as some wiring guage charts to make sure that the size of wire is enough to carry the amount of amps that the speakers and amplifier will be using :thumbsup:

    When there are two 2ohm subs, your final wiring options are either 1ohm or 4ohm. You won’t be able to rewire it to a 2ohm load.
    That specific amp is not 1ohm stable, so if you continue running it with the subs wired to 1ohm, you’re going to end up damaging the amp.

    2 2ohm dvc's should wire to either 2 or 8 ohms, shouldn't they? Or am I missing something?
    (I guess you can wire them to .5 ohm as well).

    I watched this video here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htx0aXmzFmo

    Is this wrong? I'd hate to have to buy another AMP just for this purpose.

    I am pretty sure you are correct, as this is how I will be wiring my new subs, but @destin_meeks is usually spot on with this stuff.

    If they were single voice coil woofers @destin_meeks ' statement would hold true.

    The part I hate about wiring two subs is doing it so as to get both woofers and the wiring inside the box without using too much wire. Getting the leads into the terminals is a bitch too.

    Ah I see; yeah these are dual voice coils. I'm going to open it up and do the wiring tomorrow after work. Thank you.

    The website shows that box it wired for 1ohm. That means that they are either SVC 2ohm subs, or DVC 1/4ohm

    either way, no way to get them to 2ohms.

    I’m sure they’ll fit behind the 60 seat which is the middle and passenger side seats. They sell premade wooden boxes

    See? I told you he knew what he was talking about. @httuner have you pulled the subs to confirm if they are dvc or svc?

    I saw some nice pre-made boxes and actually thought about it, but I got these for a killer deal from my local store so pulled the trigger after I took some small measurements. I'm kinda so/so on the fit but going to attempt it, I'd make something work for sure. Thank you.

    Theres a discrepency between those subs and the box you bought. Companies sell prefab setups with different speakers in them as opposed to just the raw speakers. I would look at the subs to confirm impedence.

    They won’t fit, unless you make some major mods to the seat mounting. If you get an amp for them though, they’re going to pound.

    Several budget options

    Pioneer GM-DX971
    Rockford Fosgate R2-1200X1
    Kicker 46CXA12001

    I checked out those Options; a little pricey for me actually lol. I actually went with the Sundown SFB 1000 for 189 from a local shop, going to see what this will do. Waiting for my 4guage wiring kit to arrive. I got almost 800 dollars into this setup now, so much for a low budget bass setup.
