How high lift do you have on your truck?

have you looked into 255/85R16s? they're expensive but everyone who runs em seems to love them and you can fit them on stock wheels too. you'll want to get an aftermarket wheel with 285s or you'll run into clearance issues with the frame and UCA. I have an aftermarket wheel with less backspacing/more offset and I still rub the frame at full lock with 285s. I also hear that 255s are much easier on the power loss since they're lighter and have less of a contact patch to cause rolling resistance. I think that @yote is running a set of them so i'd be curious to hear what he says.
also, know that this wasn't directed at me but it looks like he's running a 3" lift. I've got a 3" lift on my truck and fit the 285s just fine, you can probably get away with 2.5" but you're definitely going to need to trim/hammer the pinch weld. you'll need to do that for a 3" lift too though so no difference there.

if you're running a 4" backspace wheel you should be fine with the 285s. If you have the money though I'd go for the 255s. from what i hear most people who run them love the pizza cutters. good luck!

I have the same lift, Just put on the new shoes this winter. Love how it looks now. It does rub but doesn’t bother me.

I've been rocking mine for ~40k miles and love em so far. They do great and exceed my expectations from the city highways to the snow and terrain of the mountains. Currently on Cooper St Maxx's.

I had the same struggle, ended up going with 265/75/16. I thought 33s might be a little much for the four banger w/stock gearing and also didn't want to worry about clearance issues. Here's a pic of how they look with a 3" lift...

I had 4.30's before my 4.88's. Personally wouldn't wanna run 33's on anything less than 4.30's, but than again I'm a 4cyl. Would be worse with the auto. I'm a 5spd

Im running 286/75/16 with OME 882 and All-pro standards. I barely had to trim my fender liners, and filed the pinch weld a tiny bit for good measure, but it never rubbed too badly. It's definitely slower on acceleration, but thats the life we live haha. TRD supercharger would be a game changer though ;)

What's the back spacing/offset on those wheels? I also have a 98-00 and want to run this tire size. I was hoping to go 285/75/r16 with Black Rhino Stadiums (4.11" BS). Any rubbing on the frame?

Hey guys, had a question for everyone running the 285/75. I have an 02 and I’m running kings with the camberg UCA on the front with the deavers in the rear. I have the front set to what I’m guessing is around 2-2 1/2, not 100% certain because the suspension was shot when I installed kings and bigger tires at the same time. I am running a fuel wheel with 4.5” of back spacing. I have done the pinch weld mod and have remolded the inner fender liner. I can make now turn lock to lock with no rub, but when I get to any short of bumps while turning left I am hitting pretty hard on the rear of the drivers side wheel well. I had been looking into maybe swapping to the SPC control arm so I can get some caster adjustment out of it. I was reading a 3rd gen 4Runner forum where they are running SPC and 35” tires with very minimal lift. I know they’re 2 different vehicles but was hoping this may solve my issues. Can anyone running an SPC uca confirm. I would really hate to get rid of the camberg because I put them on 2k miles ago and would hate to already take a big hit selling them used.

The SPC will help, but you should try to get an alignment with the cam's on the LCA's maxed out so that you can get as much castor as possible.
    Try that before swapping UCA's.
I have TC UCA's and was running those tires before.

Anyone know if I’m okay having 285s on 3.5BS with a 2.75” lift in front and drop shackles in rear? I have 265/75s now and want to go a bit bigger. I already hammered the pinch welds and trimmed splash guards to fit the 265s.

Is gearing really necessary with 285s on a 3.4L auto? I live in flat ass Ontario and don’t off-road much. A lot of hiway driving out west to blm camping

I had 285/75R16 open Toyo A/T with 2.0” lift, it rubbed the subframe at full lock turn. I need at between 4.0-4.3 bs wheels to clear it. I didn’t have to chop anything other than removing the oem side step.
