yeah I forgot your on the +4" kit. I'm just rocking 1.5" spacers and it looks good. I need to go wider to clear shocks though I think. I'm rubbing them now with the 37s and slightly lower BS than I had before (4.5)

I had to order the spacers directly from BORA and they are on BO right now being built to order.

You didn't happen to weigh the wheel and tire assembly or both separate did you? Trying to get an idea of the accuracy of the advertised weights.

I forgot to weigh the wheel, but the tire was 80lbs. I think the wheel is around 30lbs if I were guessing? I don't even know what the advertised weight of them is.

Maybe if I have time I can weigh a full wheel this week while the truck is on the lift for the tubbing. Haven't finished that project yet. Have a customer in this week that I'm doing king mid travel front + archive hammer hangers and shock relocation in the rear, plus bumper and winch and 35's, so it's been busy.

Thanks! Blue wouldn't be my first choice either, but I bought the truck used and it was the right deal at the time 8 years ago! But I do like it. Really pops in photos.

20210124_003603.jpg Tubbing is finished, fenders are cut back more. Front bumper is cut back. Now I just have to fit everything back into the engine bay somehow. Also need to figure out the best way to support the headlights and front of fender

I haven't tuned into your build thread in ages.... And wow!! Big changes! You're really tearing into it. Good shit!

I see in your LT install that you remove your PS rack. Was that for installing the JD lca kit or just for replacement?

    Thanks!

I needed a new rack. Mine was completely blown! Going to get the JD slide rack soon as well hopefully!

Makes sense. And that'll be fun!

How are you liking the LCA relocation so far? I haven't found much feedback out there other than your first impressions. I know you've got the big LT kit in now, but we're you able to get out aligned decently?

I put it in at the same time as the long travel so I never ran it stock length. I love it so far though. Alignment only has around 3.5° of caster because my frame is tweaked so I couldn't put it all the way forward, but I like how it drives anyway

How many diff's have you gone through with 37's? I am only on 34's and am on my 3rd diff now with 4.88's. I do have the e-locker rear end though. I do tow very heavy and am supercharged. But I am trying to determine what I need to do different to at least step up to 35's. I am trying to get a tow rig for my camper but is just not towing enough to have my rear end handle larger tires? I know of another guy on 37's who tows heavy also on 37's and he is on his 4th rear end and just ordered up the ECGS Dana 60 to solve his ring gear issue. So, have you had issues with 37's and 4.88's? Not sure if you tow heavy, but I know your truck has to be heavy. Beautiful truck also. I do wish mine was a long bed.

I don't tow very often, but my truck is around 6550 lbs fully loaded for road tripping with bikes, surfboards, camp gear, fuel, water, 2 people and our dog. I have never broken a tie rod, CV, axle, or diff. I have the ARB carriers which are stronger, and am running Nitro 4.88s. I do want to change to a Ford 9" with fabricated housing at some point, but don't have the money to spend on that right now while my current set up has been working just fine.

I don't drive fast on road, and when I wheel gnarlier stuff, I am pretty light with the throttle so the driveline doesn't get shock loaded the way it does when I see some people doing the same lines on the rev limiter. I just give it as much throttle as needed, and creep up obstacles letting the tires do their thing. I do go fast in the dirt, but never had an issue. I don't have a supercharger though.

Part of it is also the break in process when you have new gears. If they aren't broken in properly with the right heat cycling etc, the gears will be weakened.

So yeah, I dunno what to tell ya really haha! I ran 35's for many years before the 37s as well, no issue.

im curious what sort of failure modes are you going through? I have zero miles on my setup so far but I'll be on 34s also with 5.29s on ARB carriers so trying to gather all the infos

I am breaking "a" single tooth off the ring gear. Not blowing up the diff or anything like that. But twice now in a year have taken one tooth clean off. ECGS has been great to work with though. And you have a much stronger rear end than the older e-locked rear ends. We just put 4.88's in a 2020 Tacoma on 285/70R17's and it completely changed the truck for the good. Truck is now fun to drive and doesn't shift 30 times in a 3 miles stretch of road.

Yes, the third gens run a bigger 8.8" rear end except for the Auto Non-locked rear which is an 8.4". The 2005-2015 Off-Road locked axles have an 8" rear end, while the non locker (sports) have an 8.4", which is what I have.
