For sure it really picked up in the last hour. Add 2 inches to the last pic.

I had an oil furnace when I first moved here. They are easy to maintenance and fix. A few years ago I went to a propane furnace and I haven't touched it. I pay for maintenance but propane has traditionally cost less - sometimes significantly - than oil.

I would say we have about 5 inches here. My daughter called off work, so this is the first time in awhile I haven't had to get up at 4:30 to take her.

Haven’t caught the weather report this morning. Wonder if it changed? We should get another 10 or so according to last nights report. Plows just came through the neighborhood

We had propane for the water heater for years, the (big national) company was staggeringly expensive. They always assured me that I was getting "the middle rate" -- wonderful, so I could pay even more... I was with them some 20 odd years, they never even gave me a calendar.

I felt I was a hostage of the propane company, to switch suppliers takes days of your life between pump out, tank swapping, equipment inspection -- tough to do when you have a day job. Ultimately I put an electric water heater in, electric price would need to more than double to equal what I was paying the propane company.

The great thing about oil is when times are lean you can dump 5-10 gallons of kerosene or diesel in the tank and go a few days. Kind of a p-i-a but it works if needed.

What I like about oil is being able to fill my tanks when the price is low and days like today throw the 100 gallon tank on the truck and go get some if I have not been paying attention.

Plus during Sandy the nine days without electric I had lots of fuel for the generator.

We've had 2 snow days this year at work which is nearly unheard of.

And we outsource snow removal now so I don't even have to deal with that.

Went outside for more firewood. Fuck that noise.

Maybe when the freezing rain and sleet stops I'll go shovel.

We've had about 4" so far. I finished up shoveling and plowing our place and Lynn's Mom's - she lives in the old farmhouse on our property. Some pictures.

Yeah, that's true you can grab a few gallons in a bind. I think my propane company is rathe fair. I fill up in the summer when it's cheaper and then usually have to get more in January to make it until Spring. My last few charges per gallon have been: $1.74, $1.52 (summer) and $1.82.
