I'm sure he was totally serious and not being sarcastic. I mean GPNVG's weren't even available to the public at all until last week, when TNVC listed them for $42k each.
Yup. Bet he has two pairs.

I went down this same path and the major issue I ran into was all the interior lighting. Long story short, I ended up just trimming some cardboard to fit over the radio head unit and the dash gauge cluster. The gauge cluster cutout just press fits in and stays there. The HU cardboard I hung with a little painters tape. I cut out openings in the cluster cardboard where the warning lights are (since, they should normally be off and if they come on, I want to know about it).

kinda hard to look through the windshield with thermal.

I tried nv once with just the interior lights dimmed low and it was ok, not ideal but I could see what was going on, didnt try to drive though. Gen3 filmless WP tubes

If I could afford the GPNVGs I definitely wouldn’t be driving a Taco or posting about it. Forgot the /s on my post. :spending:

Thats why the mount the thermal camera on the outside remotely and the screen inside.

My buddy in AZ had one of these for his squad car. Said it had significant pedal left at 150 mph. I coveted one for a while, but never found one that clean to buy :burnrubber:

Glass doesn't let thermal pass. I'm talking shooting not driving with thermals.

This I know i'm still thinking for driving.

I still use thermal for scanning, have a pvs30 on the rifle for shooting. Probably be different if I was shooting closer ranges.

Keep planning on grabbing one of the trijicon thermal scopes for an ar10 but I dont have enough use for it.... yet.

For the OP, try pulling the gauge fuse in the cab. If that works wire in a switch and you're set. The radio will probsbly be on a different circuit if you can't turn the display off manually.

A pvs30 with a decent optic is miles ahead. Snag a sub 2k thermal and you can play all night and not miss anything.

Personally I like a mounted thermal and pvs 31A. Easy to scan and can flip em up for some thermal time

IR definitely rocks for acquisition, anything out there lights up like a flare. I have a seekir but it's a little limited on the rifle, small fov and useless magnification.

Need to grab a purpose built thermal one of these days. Maybe with this Wallstreetbets stuff I can swing one, lol.
