haha! I'm not in grea tshape right nwo because...winter. When riding season comes in full force, I'm riding almost every day. I took my gravel bike out the other day and although I did do 20 miles, it was a rough 20 miles. Need to get into better shape. Not to mention, ski-touring hasn't been happenign as much because the avy danger is a bit high. So...yeah...

It's going off out in the backcountry the last few days. Someone just sent me photos of the slides snowbird patrol has gotten to go with explosives today. Going big.

yeah, I saw the uac's post on the squaretop s&r + mitigaiton work. the entire face just simply slid.

2 this season already. both in the PC area. Both in "sidecountry". not to mention all the other close calls and burials that have already happened. I triggered a tiny one in bounds recently. Scary shit man.

Ive been super consistent at the gym... but sets of 4 with 5 minutes and some sour patch kids between them aren’t necessarily helpful to mountain biking lol

Yall motherfuckers are wild. Back country seems sketchy, especially up on the mountain.

Only gonna get worse as IKON and COVID restrictions push more people to seek beyond the ropes lines too.

Sidecountry is prob the sketchiest because of the people it attracts and the easy accessibility. But they better realize what theyre signing up for...

lol. You're more dedicated than I am. I HATE the gym. good on you.

Hah! There are mitigation techniques and things to watch out for. Training for avalanche certification helps a lot. :D

Yes. the backcountry is full of people now. COVID definitely hasn't helped.

and yes. sidecountry == backcountry. 50% of all fatalities happen in the so called "Sidecountry". Be careful on the slopes folks!

Yea.... I could definitely see myself 4 years ago looking at that sign and going “fuck yea, let’s see what’s over here” and immediately dying.

Ehh, just kinda routine at this point. I love it though. Found a killer gym here and am about to start hardcore prepping for a powerlifting meet since Covid fucked the one I was supposed to do.

I visit and exit that gate regularly, with appropriate gear and experience. There are safe options out that gate. There is typically a ski patroller at that sign asking if you have gear/beacon and know how to use it, explaining current avy danger, and then telling the ones that don’t how many people die on these slopes on days just like this.

People shrug it off and then go do stupid shit. Then that same patroller is the one on the radio and first on the scene when bad things happen. Feel terrible for these patrollers. Especially when Lord Vail is screwing them in contract negotiations.
