Makes total sense if you're just one to drive to improved camp ground, but where's the fun in that?

Definetely, he was a former pro mountain biker, so his builds always have space to store a Moto or some bicycles. And then a separate living area with tv, sink etc.

I wonder if the OP comes back. If not I'm happy he has a new engine. Break downs on trips suck. My Jeep ate it's transmission in 2013 on the way home from a trip. It was messy but in hindsight could have been worse.

Not gonna lie I was livid when my cps failed in my 16 and I was 100 miles from home. Luckily I only had 40k on the truck and was under warranty. I don’t think we have the full story. Why is OP carrying around a spare cps and that would have been a bitch to change in a gas station parking lot. Given the number of 3.5s sold and driving I think we can concur OP let some valuable info out or it was just a freak incident and bad luck.

I am with you ... that video is awesome ...

I personally don't care what people think I look like ... as you get older you gain more freedom ... I once saw Salman Rushdie on Bill Maher and he had this wonderful quote about how much more enjoyable life got when he turned 70 (mind you, I am far away from that, fortunately!). He said something to the effect of you can stop people that are talking to you mid-sentence and tell them to please shut up ... you can't be sure how much time you have left to live and you prefer not to waste it talking to an asshole like you ... kind of thing. Ha!

I am sure I have been both a poser and an idiot on the same day.

But I am in the north east. And we don't have the kind of massive rock crawling trails that are all over the West. I love that stuff but it is not my thing -- and I am not likely doing it. I would be happy with a camper / airstream / mini van / roof top tent / RV / who knows what so that I can drive through the Adirondack mountains, through to northern Quebec and all of the way to the maritimes with a place to pee, a small fridge and a good mattress for me, my wife and my kid. Did the entire perimeter of Nova Scotia (heaven on earth) and Cape Breton car camping. Loved it. Want to do it again (especially the French parts) but want more comfort.

These vans would be perfect for that ... !

    My mom has a 07 wrx impreza 5spd, she is 63 BTW:cool:

She only has 70k miles but knock on wood its been great, besides replacing the clutch. Ive seen her drive many times and im not surprised.

Doesnt burn oil too, not noticeable on the dip stick at least. Turbo still works fine as well.

A lot of it has to do with how you take care of it and how you treat cars. My Subarus weren't perfect and they were bought used too. Both of mine never used significant oil between oil changes. The ones my mom had did. When mine 90 Legacy had over 200,000 on it I was driving it to cleavlend and Toledo Ohio with no issues, some told me that was crazy but it would do it.

My part of my what I was trying to say was that has a lot to do with how well the car treats you. They are better than many other cars out there. The all wheel drive is generally very good. They are marketed well too.
    That's a nice looking car .

    On topic,

    Op is a tool obviously.

But I was just reading a thread last week here, several reports of this happening with 2017s for some reason. Always cyl 5 and 6, some adding holes to the block. I can't find the thread atm to link it. My guess is some screw up in engine manufacturing process.

This is the truth and why there are so many in CO. I have an ‘06 Impreza as my commuter car and I’ll take that with the Blizzaks in the snow over any vehicle I’ve owned. They are locked in for snow driving. I’ve also been surprised that they have a reliability reputation on this forum. There was a known head gasket issue, mine were replaced under warranty, other than that, it’s been great. I know tons of people with well over 200K miles, no issues. Mine has 176000. I keep it very well maintained and have done all recommended services. It does use oil, like a lot of Subarus, but it never bothered me and it has always ran great.

    Thanks!

I agree yes, properly driven and taken care of car will last. I forgot to add that subaru has a salvage status (was rebuilt), the guy used to rally that car. He is a friend of my dad, so my parents got a really good deal on it. It does corner very well, the awd is amazing. I should not have a car like this though, haha. Every time i get to drive it, all I want to do is go fast in it. That turbo is fun!

Not super uncommon to carry a spare CPS. In 16/17 it seemed to be a fairly common problem and Toyota released a revised part with new part#. Many TW peeps bought a spare as to not get stranded in case of CPS failure. Doesn’t seem to be a problem any more though.

That said I would have thought OP would have come back to the thread he/she started. That along with the fact that it seems to be a new account. Makes me think the story was fabricated.

Anecdotal but my 2010 Frontier has been flawless. Most reliable vehicle I've owned by a wide margin. My 2008 Impreza has had some issues but it's very easy to work on and hasn't left me stranded. It will need head gaskets at some point, they have been weeping oil for a couple years now.
