Buyer Beware: KTJO 4X4 Driver's Side Grab Handles w/ A Pillars, HUD, and Bowl Lights

I should have just sold the damn thing on here for $20 less. But I'm spiteful and what this to possibly cost KTJO4xdipshit as much money and effort as possible.

Certain habits from the Navy just never wore off. I started with just over half a pot of coffee this morning, last cup had a splash of bourbon. Started working on my car in the garage, which of course isn't going as planned. And now I'm on my 4th glass of whiskey.......

 

I must be lucky. Mine went on smoothly and everything seated nicely without any adjustments. All is well on my side. It took about 15 min to put on.

Imho, having to cut out trim from my meso puddle pods and third brake was the worse when it came to fitment. Again...just my experience.

 

I had to stop bringing a flask in. Has to stay in the Taco. The workdays were going by too fast.

There definitely have been a lot of people that are totally satisfied with the grab handle. Some fit perfectly and other just have low enough standards to not give a fuck about inconsistencies and additional modification requirements to make this shit show fit properly. I wish mine had fit right, but the way my luck has been the last year or so, I already knew it wasn't going to meet my expectations.

 

It seems about half (maybe?) had good install experiences. Bolt cover issues, shipping, ransom, etc. make up just about all the rest.

There has to be a few lucky ones or we'd all be really fucked.

 

At this point, I've been out of work for so long, I'm not sure what "work" really means.

 

Still a cheaper endeavor than my engine build on my STi has been........since April.

 

Ouch. I can't believe it has been over a year of this BS. A couple generations back and it would have been fixed.



I've gotten so lazy and unmotivated that PnP is about all that I have in me. Did an O2 sensor on our Mazda on Saturday. I can't tell you how thankful I was that it was the upstream one and I was able to swap it by not doing much more than bending over.

I'm 10 months and about $11k into a motor build on my STi. Currently having to use a dremel to machine the face of the downpipe to clear the internal waste gate flapper........and at this point, I think I've taken off so much metal that there's probably not enough left to not crack by the end of March. And I had to use 2 turbo to downpipe gaskets to get it to clear as well. I bought the downpipe over a year ago, then deployed twice, so returning it was not an option

I did get a chip in the Taco's 2mo old windshield last week. I was shitting bricks watching it and hoping it wouldn't crack out. Thankfully, the repair is holding. A prior repair cracking out is what wasted the OE glass.

 

The Subaru had a chip in the windshield for over 4 years. Then it sat all last summer at my tuner's house while I went back and forth building the engine........And the chip randomly just went all the way across the windshield.....after over 4 years.

 

That is crazy.

I have three in the Taco. I thought the first two would have went, but it was the last one that I thought was going to hold.

Prior to, we only have two chip repairs ever and one replace windshield from a DIY fuckup. I still can't believe that I did that one. KTJO 4x4 level of stupidity.

 

I installed my redarc brake controller, scan gauge, and sumo springs on Saturday. I also had to re-do my anytime charging outlet since it previously used the trailer brake pigtail for power.

It's the most I've accomplish in a while, so I rewarded myself with whiskey and I started re-watching the marvel universe in chronological order with my son.

 

That is where I have my left USB port wire to also. Where did you grab the power from after the brake controller install?


The MCU is pretty amazing as great individual movies and as a project. I can't wait to see where it goes. My younger daughter has enjoyed them with me. I'm sure your son will.

 

I'm pulling power from the unused fuse slot below AM1. I'm using an add a fuse with a 5 amp fuse on the accessory side and nothing on the fuse panel side. I ran the ground to the ground bolt behind the kick panel along with the secondary ground from the brake controller harness.

Not as clean as my plug and play to the brake controller pigtail, but it seems to be working good. I mostly just use it to charge my phone while driving.
