Looking for some input. Truck is listed here in Canada, but according to the dealer it's a truck that spend its first year in the US (Minnesota). So the speedo is in miles etc.
Truck is customized, grille, lights, rear bumper. Frame has been oiled to no end according to the dealer.
It looks good, but I wonder if something is up because it's a US truck? Carfax is clean (haven't seen it yet).
    Thoughts?

Fellow Canadian. Not too sure how Carfax works across borders but I used to work with some shady curb side dealers that would buy written off vehicles from the states, fix them up, get them inspected and imported and flog them off.

not to say that’s the case with this truck but I’m very hesitant when I see a vehicle listed in miles. Unless there is bulletproof documentation and passes a very thorough inspection by someone who knows tacomas I’d steer clear.
Every other truck in BC is a Tacoma so you should be able to find something for sale on this side of the border.

At the very least, the resale will be quite a bit less because there is always that uncertainty for the next buyer.

Not too sure how much a similar truck would go for in ON, but that seems like a super low price for that truck.

This is my main concern: that is is some write-off in the US that's been fixed up and shipped across the border. I'll see if I can get the VIN and do some kind of VIN search on it.

Don't know if it's a TRD Offroad, there are no markings on it. It is a double cab short box.

The hood with the scoop says it’s a Sport not an off road.

if thats true and the carfax matches that, i wouldnt be too suspicious. Like DavesTaco68 may have pointed out, it might be a model we never got in Canada like the double cab offroad.

Gotcha - thanks. Although I would like an Offroad, it's not a deal breaker for me. Interestingly enough, the dealer did say it had Bilstein shocks, But since it looks like some mods were done to the truck it would
not surprise me if the previous owner had swapped those out as well. I'm hoping to see the truck in person tomorrow.

Really low mileage and a Great Price.??

If it sounds too good to be true??? You know the rest.

If l was to even consider this truck.I'd have every millimeter of that truck properly inspected for absolutely anything nefarious.

But my gut says walk away

I hear ya, definitely crossed my mind. But, otoh, as mentioned above, a US truck with mods might be hard to sell. We'll see :)

Take into a Toyota shop and get it checked out, if it’s solid then that’s not a bad price, and the frame isn’t rusty

You never know. Deals are out there to be had. A thorough inspection by someone who knows Tacomas will be the only way to tell for sure.

    Good luck
