How many miles on your 2012-2015?

My truck is an 07’ with 137k

 

thats very low mileage!!

 

I won't be much help. 38,000 on my 2013.

Ya she is running strong. At 230k I had my mechanic go through it and went to the dealer for another. Dealer found my rear license plate bulb was out. I ended up doing new leaf springs,shocks, struts, coils, and upper control arms. It wasnt necessary but man it drives like it came off the lot.

 

103k, bought July 2019 at 92k. Second owner

 

During the used Tacoma craze last summer due to covid Carvana quoted me a price that was over $1000 more than I gave for it new in April 2013.

 

I'll be the first person here to give a negative response. My 4.0 seized at 197k. However, it was due to the previous owner's negligence with oil changes. As long as you change the oil regularly and do proper maintenance you'll be fine. Make sure you have a mechanic thoroughly check the truck out before you buy it so you don't have the same problem I did.

 

85k, but only about 7k the last 2 years combined. I hardly drive it anymore since working from home full time (even pre-Covid). Just the occasional road trip.

Basically just oil changes, and spark plugs. Changed the rear diff fluid at 60k and engine/air filter. That's pretty much it.

 

There were times, after I started running full synthetic, that I waited up to 8,000 miles between oil changes; Before that I got the oil changed every 5K as per the owner’s manual’s recommendation. I’ve been doing every 5K since 110K miles and I’m at almost 124K now; I’m guessing I’m fine?

 

I'm sure you're fine. Synthetics can usually go 8k without risking it too much. It's just better practice to do 5k intervals. The family friend I bought the truck from had no service records after the free dealership oil changes and maintenance but I didn't think much of it. I have no idea what intervals he did it at or what. I got an oil change done right when I bought it and then 5k later did one myself. When I did that, the oil looked like glitter with all the metal in it and it died not long after. Thats why I recommend getting it checked out before instead of trusting someone like I did. My new engine requires a change every 3-4k to keep the warranty so i'm using dino oil until the warranty is up. Then strictly synthetic every 5k.

 

The 1GR-FE is a port injected dinosaur. You COULD run 10k mile changes with synthetic and never notice any difference.

 

What's weird is that it was using oil for a bit; I switched from 0W-20 to 5W-20 and it stopped.

1 lower ball joint
serpentine belt
