Sulfur smell: The well that serves my garage had the smell and so much gas that the water wouldn't flow smoothly from the faucet, it would spit and pop, the water would change colors even. I don't use the water much and always felt that contributed to the problem.

Lots of gas drilling was going on (Marcellus Shale) and this Engineer kid came around doing a survey and taking samples. He observed the water and said "I can help you with that". He changed the well cap out for one with a vent -- a standard cap with with a hole for a 1" x 6" tall pipe nipple held to it with two conduit lock nuts and an oil tank mushroom vent on the end.

To be honest I was thinking "yeah, right" -- the original cap isn't air tight... At this point I would have bet $10 there would be no change.

Ran the water for two pump cycles and the spitting and color changing were gone! Several years have gone by and the problems have never returned. You can build you own for $10, just need a big drill bit.

@Tacoma Mike any chance you know of a place one might buy a legit one-piece shop tool to raise/lower the spare tire on a Tacoma? I kinda don't love taking apart my tools but the DT guys mentioned you can only get such a tool from a dealer b/c otherwise someone might want to get one to steal spares I guess?

Good Evening. Well sadly my wife was turned down for the early retirement package, not because of seniority (which she has) but because others with less years have more “Life Hours” accrued. I guess it’s one of the downfalls of moving to a 3 day/12 hour a day modified full time schedule. I hurt for her but will figure a way out for her to transition out soon.

    Hours
Thanks Susan. Apparently they are the total amount of hours including overtime that an individual has worked over the span of their career. While she is most years she is not most hours...

I changed the anode rod and flushed mine recently and it’s good as new. Rod was junk. I flush my water heater every year and that seems help

Only like 35 or 40 bucks.

I think this is what you want..
    Check eBay
    Might be cheaper

I got mine from a Tacoma going to the scrapper.
    Not a special shop tool.
Some guys have welded a three piece but that’s not what you want.

When I put the new electric water heater in I changed the plastic drain valve for a brass nipple with a 1" ball valve. I put a garden hose fitting on the valve and keep a short piece of hose handy. Drain the chunks every month, if I get lazy and miss a month or two it will get noisy.

Good morning all. Just came in from cleaning up the snow - again. Cooling down and eating breakfast before a shower and off to work. I’ll be late today and they’ll have to like it!

I was out on my deck, just before dawn, with a cup of coffee and noticed the moon. I thought it was an interesting view, so I took a pic.

Good Morning...it’s Groundhog Day! The contractors will be tearing up the covered play area today to get to a broken sewer pipe. Hopefully it’s only a 3 day project as kids will be returning to the building very soon and that is the only place that I can social distance them...keeping fingers crossed. Stay Well...Stay Safe.
