what size magnaflow mufflers is everyone running on their first gens?

looking into replacing my flowmaster 40 with a magnaflow muffler in the near future (diff sound and b/c flowmaster is about to rust out.) Just wondering what sizes you guys were running? I was figuring that the 5x8x14 would work since thats the one that is on the full catback system that they premake, but the shop i go to for custom stuff says that there isn't any magnaflows that would fit my truck well enough to fab things up??

 

So what you are saying is after the old muffler is cut off the inlet and exhaust sizes won't fit, can anyone else chime in on this, I was looking at the exhaust on my truck and if you have to replace the OEM muffler you have to some how get the oxygen sensor out of the exhaust pipe.

 

Not sure if your 04 is any different than my 01 in the exhaust department but I replaced my stock muffler with a Mangaflow catback system and I didn't have to cut anything. I removed 2 nuts and the oxygen sensor came off.

 

^^^^yes well i'm not going with the full catback, or atleast wasn't planning on it since i don't think the extra $300 dollars is worth it. I figured it was possible to just cut out the current flowmaster muffler, and then just add some new tailpipe that fits?

 

I am running an 18" magnaflow that is the 4" x 9" shape. Mine is center in and center out. Fits perfect.

 

I have a magnaflow. I like it a lot! I will be switching over to a BA muffler soon though.

 

what size is it? and did you just cut the stocker out and throw this one in?

 

I know it's 14" long, I am not quite sure what the depth and width is... Sorry... I had a shop cut my stock muffler and weld this 14" in place of it. The magnaflows are supposedly sound best on the 4 cylinders unlike the V6 like mine. I like the Magnaflows best because there is not back pressure.

 

ya idk i think the guys just didn't want to do much work and they have flowmaster everything there and try to push it a lot, quota maybe? haha

not to try to change this thread too much from original topic, but i'm curious about the diff drop and whether it would help a vibe between 30-40 mph?

I know you have one Digiratus, did it help things?
