First time doing surpentine belt (easy)

I replaced my surpentine belt today. My 06 has 100,200 miles and replacing the belt was cake. I couldn't find a DIY on surpentine belt replacment. But it wasn't that hard. I also made a oppointment at my toyota dealership for a oil change, tran flush, rear end fluid change. They are going to charge me $230.00 for everything (not a bad deal). Truck still running like brand new toyota

 

ummmm, you don't have a timing belt.

lol its all good. Yeah the serpentine belt is very easy. Timing belt, not so much.

 

Ummmm isn't it a timing chain....

 

Thats not too bad for 100k miles on the belt.

 

OP If you can handle a belt change no problem I bet you could do a fluid change and save $100 + .

 

yes it does, but my truck has a belt and it is a PITA to change.

 

Since no set of instructions exist and you've just done it, this is the perfect opportunity for you to write this up for us dummies.

There have been numerous comments re trans flushing and the typical dealership practice of merely changing the trans fluid. You should make clear to your service people that you expect a proper trans flush, not simply a fluid change. How can you be sure they do it? I don't know. . . .

 

Thanks to you guys, I narrowed down my squeeky engine problem and knew how to route the new belt back into place.
