CBI VS Coastal Off-road

Well just finished both of my coastal offroad bumpers. I kind of botched my rear bedside cutting. A bit more than a half inch but all in all they look great. I might repaint to a flatter black though

 

I'm actually about to get this same bumper combo for my 3rd gen. Could you post some more pics so we can get an idea of how they look at different angles? Thank you.

 

Would love to get me a Coastal rear bumper one day and they're local for me too , but the fact that you have to cut out parts of your bed leave me on the fence.

It belongs to my buddy who helped out with the welding and fabrication. Seems to get the job done well!

 

How do you like the rear bumper? I'm looking at getting the same one. Do you think the hitch receiver is capable of towing factory ratings assuming all welds are nicely done? Also where did you mount your license plate?

I already have the coastal front bumper on my 3rd gen and love it!

 

I hope they redesign the grill on the 4th gens. It's impossible for me to like a 3rd gen because of it.

 

Honestly I don't tow anything heavy, so I couldn't tell you whether it could tow that much. But I did get the recessed receiver option because you gain clearance by ditching the factory receiver. On the jerry can holder, there's pre-drilled holes for the license plate. Loving this so far!

 

Been kicking the idea about a Coastal off road for the front of my 2nd gen. Not sure about the rear yet.. might do a flatbed..

Anyways! Talked to the guy and he said you might be able to use the factory skid plate but judging by what I see here I'm guessing not. Might have to go with the one they offer. Can anyone confirm or deny?

 

These are the 3/16in steel skid plates from Coastal Offroad. They line up perfectly with their high-clearance front bumper. They use the factory mounts, so should align with factory skid plate. But I highly recommend their skid plates. These things are heavy and strong. I raptor lined mine.

The CBI kit went together pretty easily. Instructions weren't really needed, per se. There were a couple small pieces that could have gone anywhere, but most of it could only go together in 1 way.

I made a few mistakes along the way but I attribute that to being a welding noob more than anything else.

But it looks like the DIY kit isn't on the CBI website any more, so it seems like it's not something they offer anymore. It's too bad, because it's a solid looking bumper.

 

I've been eyeing the Coastal for my rear bumper for a while.

but I honestly can't figure out why their single swing out costs as much the entire bumper, and it's not even full width. 4xInnovations has a swing out kit for $400 that's (almost) fully assembled.

I'd probably get 4XI's double shear hinge kit ($100) and I've seen some tire mounting plates for under $20. $100 in steel from the yard and you're good to go.

 

Nice man! Yeah I was just thinking either plasti dip or rattle can beeline the bumper and skid plate when I finally pull the trigger.

Hey what kind of skid plates are you running? also how did they bolt up to the coastal bumper?

 

I ran 4xInnovations skids. They bolted to the stock front cross member, not the bumper.
