I had krown rust preventative applied to my frame back in October of 2020. I've been pretty neurotic about the frame rusting on my 2010 and was wondering what kind of things I should be looking out for after driving in the snow. Here in NJ they salt & brine the shit out of the roads every time there's snow in the forecast.

Is it OK to take the truck to a carwash even with the preventative spray applied? I was running a hose on the undercarriage after I would drive in the snow but I'm wondering if that's actually worse for the frame.

I've seen some other posts on here regarding this but I just wanted to see what the latest info was if possible. TIA

This would be a good thing to have for the need.
    Pressure washer needed? Not necessarily.

You don’t want to use high pressure, but a garden hose with a spray nozzle. You don’t want to blast of any corrosion protection you sprayed on.

Where you had it Krowned, they likely sellspray cans of the stuff which you can use to touch up areas in the wheel wheels, or where ever. I usyually buy a can of the stuff for about $10 on my way out every year when getting the annual espray.

I also dry towel wipe the welds or other areas of the frame where limited rusting occurs regardless, every fall, and treat them with a brush on product which converts any rust, prior to bringing it in for the annual respray.

Thanks for the tip. What do you do (if anything) after driving in the snow? I have a hard time letting it sit in the driveway knowing I just ran through a bunch of brine and road salt. Are you confident enough in the Krown? I love the truck and just want to make it last as long as possible.

I wash the truck like i would, when able, and especially try to do so when it is nearer to freezing and above, where the rusting process is more 'activated'. I do trust in the Krown and do not go an extra effort to spray down the whole frame, as i think that that will wear the product off more qucikly, though do somewhat more hit the wheel well areas, where i know the brine / salt is more kicked around, and that this will occur more on its own regardless. This would be why i like having a can of the stuff around for 'touch ups', and also why i hit the truck with the rust converter each year prior to my respray. I do not sand teh frame, as i think this is counter profuctive in removing paint. I just wipe clean any rusted seams, and then bruck apply a product called Corroseal, which goes on milky and dries shiny black when coverting the rust.

If I rinse my truck I never use high pressure and only use garden hose pressure like spitdog said, my biggest concern isn't my frame but my exhaust pipes/muffler because FF was never applied there, and like to keep the corrosion to a minimum.
