And in town only. I think some people are missing that point.

They're not getting banned from public lands.

I still like the registration/education idea Ryan touched on in the Wyo thread. Broadly speaking, not just in relation to Moab or side by sides.

I've had way too many days off to have an unscheduled day off.
Driving back from Loveland today, out by the landfill. Cruising along behind a big box van. Heard what sounded like a chain being drug down the road, thought, oh shit, that van must be dragging a chain. Didn't see one though, and after a minute, it stopped.
Just out side of Fort Collins, I smell hot vehicle type smells, and think, that poor bastard is about to have a bad day. Sucks to be him, hope I don't get stuck behind him.
Pull up to the stoplight, and the brake goes to floor, like damn near ran thru the intersection, thank fully nobody was in front of me. Battery light came on, couldn't steer the damn thing. Luckily I was able to limp into JJ's parking lot. Popped the hood, serpentine belt is MIA. Well, shit. No problem there is a vatozone down the street, I'll slip a new belt on it. Then, thinking, why did it break? Started checking all the spinney things and deduced that the chain I heard was the water pump impeller self destructing. Fucker seized up solid. :annoyed:

Why the fuck did the brakes fail after losing the belt? Isn't vacuum assist controlled from the running motor? I had to dump it into park to stop it. This was the work van btw, not the reliable yota's.

We've had that campfire discussion a few times.

I'd be on board with requiring all users to get an OHV tag, and there being some kind of education/trail etiquette/stay the trail etc. requirement to get. I think it's a small price to pay if it helps keep the dickheads on the trail and not ruining it for the rest of us.

Biggest problem I see with that is enforcement. How often do you see a FS/BLM/DOW etc. ranger out and about during your time offroad?

BLM is more prevalent than FS in my experience. CPW is full force during hunting season / they'll beat down old trails to find poachers. But I hear your point, it's not a common enough presence to really steer people in the right direction. At least consistently.

Coming time to do my brakes, want to do the larger break swap.

Don't most people do a 5th gen 4runner swap? I've seen plenty of thread on TW but usually just people arguing about why you may or may not need it. No actual information

So much this..... The approach is strange in comparison to game wardens. The fs/blm will question the shit out of campers in established sites but get outside the parking lot and they act like they have no issues to take care of.

Not much to say about this to stay non-political, but many/most of the Federal Public land agencies have been having a lot of budget cuts in the past several years and are understaffed/overworked. So to hear firsthand experiences of "too busy" or "not leaving the campground/parking lot" makes sense.

I wish they ran the laser nut challenge on another night. Watching them go back and forth was not enjoyable

Maybe I misunderstood this effort, but I thought CPW rejected this effort which lead it to be put on Nov Ballot and the voters saying put it into action?

Far to much shit (far to easy as well) is kicked to a voting population with little to no information and made into "law" this way.

Your understanding seems correct. CPW rejected in years prior, agenda was pushed, Denver metro voted in for the entire state. I'm just highlighting the irony in people wanting to "reintroduce" wolves, while we actively have CPW working to collar wolves in North Park.
