Does anyone have any KC (or any other similar round lights) mounted on their hood? I cant seem to find any pictures mounted in this location and I think it would be a cool change to the usual cube lights. If you or someone you know has something like this please post a picture or let me know where I can find examples online. Thanks!

Wait. Are you talking about ditch lights when you say 'cubes'?

Round in a similar size might be interesting.

I meant lights sitting on a bracket that screws into the hood connectors. "Ditch lights"

Yessir exactly, I want to put a set of 4"-5" kc round lights with a spread pattern. I just need to check the clearance.

You mean like "drill holes in my hood" to mount them? Sorry, not me. A better option might be ditch light mounts which mount (without drilling) near your cowl by each A pillar. Remember though, anything mounted that high cannot be used on the road in most states. In addition to that, correct beam pattern and proper aiming will be critical.

Bad timing lol, im thinking as ditch lights. And im only gonna use them on some backroads and dirt trails to help me see to the sides.

No drilling for me if possible

Ah, much better! Although you can use classic round lights in that position, remember, they will at least partially block your line of sight. There are some stellar performing small LED cubes that block very little while providing a ton of usable light.

I've seen some cool ones, but i think that the bubbly features of the tacoma would go nicely with the round lights, but im not really sure so thats why im asking!

Any recommendations for some cube lights around $50-$80 a piece?

The best "cube" Style lights currently out there are Diode Dynamics SS3's. They're a bit more than your budget though. The new DD SS2's might be a little closer to what you want. There are tons of cheap Chinese pods out there, but you won't get me to recommend them.

Shoot i discovered DD last night, it’s weird that I’ve never heard of them but everyone can’t seem to say enough good things about them. I’ll take a look and hope my tax return can cover it!

I have a set of their SS3 Max (fog pattern) lights and one of their 30" Stage (driving pattern) LED bars. Absolutely awesome.

The SS3 as a ditch light?

A "ditch light" is any light aimed off to the front / sides of a vehicle intended to illuminate the area normally occupied by a ditch. One can use just about any pattern of light, but generally speaking, a flood pattern works best.

Sweet I think that this is definitely a better option, did you get your wiring harness through DD?

I do all of my own wiring and make my own harnesses. The only aftermarket harness I have is the HD harness for the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade.

6-8 week lead time? Might be a dealbreaker lol. I wanna blow my money now!
