yellow fog lights

i just ordered some fog lights, and i am expecting them in the next few days. i want to know what is the best for the yellow should i go with yellow bulbs, yellow laminate, or yellow spray for them?

i was curious about the cost-effectiveness ratio of the different options.

please let me know what you have/ had, and how well you liked the set up, and the price/ life of that option

b.t.w. i have a silver tacoma with black bumper/ fog light surround inserts if that makes a difference in the looks

 

I have yellow lamin-x covers for them and they are pretty good. I also know a few people that have spray painted them and they came out great. I would think the krylon spray paint would be the cheaper method in price.

do you know what option would be best for winter driving? granted, i do like the looks of fog lights, but i bought them mainly for driving to and from work in the snow. i cant stand the snow blowing at me at night

 

I think either would be good. But to be honest, the fogs will only make things worse at night while its snowing. I turn my fogs off during those times cause the reflection of the fogs hitting the snow comes straight back at you.

 

i always heard that the fogs are best because of the yellow tint penetrates better, and the fog lights are a wider lower beam pattern as well. perhaps i was mislead, and might be better off sticking with white light as a driving light?

 

I painted mine w/ yellow stained glass window paint.

 

Yes, the yellow does do better but only in foggy conditions.

 

I sprayed mine and love it! The yellow stained glass paint was a little difficult to find. Make sure you clean them with alcohol and allow them plenty of time to dry between coats. I think this is a great, inexpensive option!

 

i'm guessing that you spray the inside of the lens? how many coats would you say you did?

 

Nope, you spray the outside of the lens. I only did 2 light coats on mine. If you go too heavy on the coats it starts to turn orange.

two coats and and good to go huh? do you notice a difference in the yellow light helping more then the reg. white light?

well i just got the fog lights today. hopefully i will find time to install them this weekend. but probably not considering its Christmas and all.

are there any things i should be aware of when i install them?
it looks like it will be a peice of cake to do. all the wire, switch, and relays came with it for $83.00 shipped to me

 

I went with yellow nokyo bulbs. The yellow tinted lens reminds me of my civic days and imo looks cheap. I enjoy the stock clear lens much better. But if i had pick between laminx or krylon glass paint, i would go w laminx, speaking from personal experience. =D

 

yep that's all it took. the yellow light helps in the fog for sure. you can tell the difference between the light from the headlights and the light from the fogs.

I had lamin-x on mine until I got 6000k HIDs. After that the fogs looked green so off with the lamin-x.
