Remember, short interest is reported after a 15 day *lag*. The guesstimates at current SI are from analytics teams out there that use big data, machine learning, and stat-ratting to land on a number relatively in the vicinity with reality - assuming the last official report 15 days ago was *honest* and that there is no atypical fuckery going on (sudden and major deviations from the norm fuck-up pattern-based stat methods, AIs, etc.).

I don't consider it extremely likely, but it is still fully possible that the HFs are still as short as they used to be, are lying about it, and are engaged in a boatload of illegal shit that may or may not ever matter to hide it in the shuffle. If this is the case, and people hold, and a catalyst comes along one day to spark things, you might still get your yacht.

Alternatively, it could go to 0 tomorrow. So, y'know. Stonks.

I think you guys should be doing this in a regular taxable account as opposed to a Roth. If it goes to the moon, aren’t you going to want to use that gain before retirement??? My 2cents.

I am in a brokerage account with my play, but if you're using a Roth...meh, whatever. Just take out debt at today's record low interest rates, ensure your Roth earns more than that in returns annually, then just pay it off when you reach an age you access the Roth without penalty. As long as you can service it in the meantime without issue, might as well be the same thing.

I don’t know elsewhere but everyone I see here is playing with maybe a few hundred bucks maybe a few k. To the point where the max gains we’ll see on this forum is like 20k from GME. That’s not nothing but it’s also not life changing that you need it tomorrow like a few million would be, for example. I don’t disagree but when you look at how much people here would actually earn, I don’t think it being restricted to an Ira is that bad.

I don’t want to rain on everyone’s parade but the hedge funds have made their money and then some. Now it might not be made back on GME BUT they were right there running up and ready to short or buying put options on every stock that went to the “moon”

they even pumped silver made a shit load up...and made a shit load right back down.

If everyone thinks GME was the only tactic and they wouldn’t just take advantage of all the others to offset losses then you are kidding yourself.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually did better than they would have made just shorting GME alone.

everyone is in on it, brokers, other hedge funds.

they all know if one goes down they all go down and banding together to make sure the system doesn’t collapse is the primary goal.

one for the books for sure but this shows this isn’t the first and won’t be the last time they scramble and I am sure they are drinking champagne somewhere just like the handful of millionaires on GME.

Take it for what it’s worth but they have strategies to make money on every market, up down and sideways...stocks, Options, hedges and derivatives....always a way to make money in every situation when you do if for a living for sure.

 

I don’t follow Reddit, but from what I’ve seen, the problem with the moon is it appears nobody knows when you’ve reached until you are back on earth, looking up saying, hmm, maybe that spike last week was the moon
