Just be sure to get the Tannus Armour TUBELESS inserts, not the Tannus Armour inserts - those use a tube and are quite a bit heavier. You can see the differences at the link below, you want the ones on the right side of the page.

Check out We Are One Composites out of Canada. Hand-laid and made in Canada, price isn't crazy, warranty is bomber (lifetime), and the ride quality is crazy good for carbon. Vertical compliance combined with lateral stiffness.

    https://www.weareonecomposites.com/

So you're thinking of joining The Movement or The Revolution and want to learn a bit about our Lifetime Warranty.
    Here is the rub.
If you break a rim while riding, we send you a new one. Period. It is that simple.
NO rim replacement cost (shipping will be charged)
    NO hidden fine-print
    Lifetime Support
There is no reason to be concerned about what happens anymore. Ride the industry's best carbon rims and we have your back if you break one.
    Plain and simple.

As @honda50r said make sure you get solid gear.

Amazon special lights will get you out there, but do you really wanna be in the middle of nowhere without light if it dies on you? get something quality that will work for years.

Hunt carbon wheels. $800 with a lifetime warranty and they ride better than Enve or Bontragers. I haven't tried we are one, but I've heard great things about them too.

I've been running CushCores, the same set, on three different bikes now. I love them and won't ride without them if I can help it.

Yes the protection is great. I broke three front wheels in as many months before I bought mine, and haven't broken a wheel since (touch wood).

But the protection isn't the biggest benefit. A) you can run lower pressure, for a more compliant ride. B) it's like two stage damping in the tire, so you get a more compliant, predictable ride, C) you get more sidewall stability. You can really huck the bike on it's side and the tire will not roll out from under the rim.

I was really worried about the weight but I don't carry a spare tube anymore, you can ride them flat, and according to Strava I still PR on climbs all the time.

But on the downhills... I really, really PR now.

Cush Cores, I sincerely feel, enhanced the fun of my riding the same way a dropper post did. At first it seemed unnecessary and complicated and more weight, but it's worth it. So much so that I'm reluctant to want to ride without a dropper. That's how I feel about Cush Cores.

I agree with you. I've had the same set between three bikes now.
I found that I was pushing into corners way faster than usual with them initially.
I'm kinda curious to take them out and see how the ride is without them since it's been so long.

Strong argument for sure. Do you go through tires quicker or about the same with the inserts?
You might be the first person to go on the record and say your climbing got quicker with inserts in. :D

His able to ride flat argument is probably the most beneficial. As someone who’s done it it’s nice to creep to the vehicle vs push bike to vehicle.

Lot's of sweet bikes and tacos in all the pictures. I mount my bikes over a tailgate cover, a friend of mine used to mount his bikes to a bed rack. One of his carbon bikes took a rock at interstate speed headed up to Angel Fire New Mexico, he was not a happy camper when he arrived at the mountain bike park.

I recently installed Cushcore's on my Chameleon, a couple of 3 months now. I run 27.5x2.8's and found it difficult to get plus tires dialed in with psi, too much ya bounce around, not enough and ya have no sidewall support but i like plus tires on my hardtail so i bought a set of their cross country inserts. I'm telling ya its a game changer, all the traction that comes with plus tires and the "all important" sidewall support. I never had an issue with damaging rims so that was not the reason for the purchase.

I got to say that along with the support they give, the ride quality has improved, the tires have some great feel to them now like added damping, its incredible! I can only speak to plus tires though because I have not tried them on my full squish 29er but may be tempted this year. The only time i notice the weight is when I throw the bike on the hanging scale...I don't have a light weight bike by any means, it is a 31.5 lb hardtail but is a lot of fun to ride. Just my 2 cents.

If anything, tires seem to last longer. I also do not run DD tires because I feel I'm getting the adding stability/protection from the insert.

When I sold my Bronson, I pulled the inserts out, put them into my Nomad, and then took the Bronson out for a mellow farewell ride. Oh yeah, you can tell they aren't there. And I destroyed an almost brand new tire going through a mellow rock garden that I ride all the time. The first flat I'd had in years was the one day I rode without the inserts.

And I wouldn't say I was climbing faster. I'd say, more accurately, the inserts didn't slow me down. The real value of Strava is being able to measure if changes have positive or negative effects. The inserts didn't have any negative effect going up, but had a huge positive effect going down.

oh man you guys got me deciding between the tannus armour and cush cores. im leaning towards cush cores just because i've heard that name thrown around more than tannus, but i do like supporting smaller brands.

If it helps/hurts. The Cush Core guy lives in Bend and started out making inserts for KTM dirt bikes.

I’ve run all sorts of inserts. Norris, Cush core, procore... Then I tried just running a Double Down casing. I don’t use inserts anymore.
The double ply casings makes the tire ride significantly different. You have all the benefits of inserts (lower pressure, pinch flat protection) but with the added benefit of sidewall protection and being able to actually fix tires without a hassle.
I’ll run them on a DH rig, just cause why not... But never again on a bike I pedal.
I’m curious; anyone that’s running inserts, have you tried double ply tires? If you went back, why?

weird. wondering when someone is going to redo the hangar and have the derailleur go above the rear triangle. would help prevent it from getting caught on rocks for sure. guess theres some mechanical advantage to using gravity for it.
