I went from a 1999 Tacoma to a 2009 Suzuki Equator to a 2016 Tacoma. I have to say that the Equator which was actually built on the Nissan plant on the Frontier line was not a bad truck at all. If I was in the market for a new truck I would definitely consider Nissan mostly for a newer looking toy. I like different looking new truck designs. They look "new" for the time I have them.

at 6 foot 3 plus and well over 250, I have no issues driving my manual taco. Now the mini copper, couldn’t get in the drivers seat, and they wouldn’t remove it so I could drive from the back seat.

I too have a Bronco reservation. I don't think I'll go through with it. Just too many concessions. The model I wanted (Black Diamond) I had to decide between heated seats or manual. For much less money I can buy a Pro with both and I still get a bed. I could option up to the Badlands for heated seats and a manual for only $8000k more than my Black Diamond.

I entertained the idea of the Ranger. It's a solid truck but with no manual option, a goofy front end, and a rear that looks like it's 10ft off the ground, I ruled it out.

Now I'm just trying to get my hands on a Pro with a manual.

I have a 2019 trd sport. When I started looking 2-3 years ago I could buy a one year old frontier SL or their off-road version with 4wd and leather for less than $20k. I kick myself for not buying two of them and skipping the Tacoma

My two issues were 1. that my size 16 feet were catching on a bracket above the clutch pedal, so I had to point my toes to push the clutch without my shoes getting caught up 2. The steering wheel’s lack of adjustment meant that my leg could only fit to the side and I couldn’t push the clutch straight down, I was trying to push the clutch with my leg out to the side which was awkward AF. I could physically drive the truck, but it those weren’t issues I was willing to put up with for the life of it. The auto trans solved those issues for me, but it wasn’t my first choice.

You’re looking at the same concessions I am. I’d rather have the manual than heated seats, but I’m annoyed I can’t get both. I really want the waterproof interior so I don’t have to worry if it rains and I’ve got the top off. Summer on Cape Cod is a perfect place for no top or doors, but it’s wet enough that you can’t leave it opened up all the time. I’ll seriously consider leasing, it being a first model year and all.

Can’t get heated seats on the Tacoma without a sunroof, since my head would be constantly hitting the ceiling with the sunroof it was an easy choice.

Not interested in purchasing, but do like the extra competition in the mid size segment. Hopefully will keep Toyota on their toes.

Ya, but if you do the math, you get the big picture. Two Frontiers are worth crap in two years, while one taco is still quite edible. See what I did there.

Trying to drive in these is a pain. I modified the brake pedal on my Passat to get more clearance for my shoes at the gas pedal, regular shoes were ok but work boots were too wide to not get caught behind the brake pedal.

Wanna bet? The Frontier prices have gone up around 50% since then. The Tacoma hasn’t.

Ever own Frontier or square body pathfinder? I had a 2011 pathfinder silver with 4.0. Every bit as good as my Tacoma

Interesting. I wonder if it’s because of the resurgence of the mid-size pick-up market, driving up used prices? Sounds like you could have flipped those for profit.

I’m not interested in buying a Ford, especially without a V6/MT option, but even with.

As to the new Frontier, until I sold it last October I was driving a 2006 Nissan Xterra owned since new with a V6/MT that felt a bit quicker than my new 2021 TRD OR DBSB V6/MT and I was waiting for the new Frontiers as the XTerra was discontinued and shared the same drivetrain. I put 305,000 miles on the XTerra with the original engine, clutch, cam chain and transmission with only normal maintenance, so I was a likely customer for the new Frontier.

Then I learned that they eliminated the manual transmission and I sold the XTerra and bought the Tacoma. Haven’t looked back.
