We don't get that much snow and I'm not too far from you so my guess is you don't really need one of the $900-2000 ones. Heck, it looks like all your neighbors have them so you really don't need one!:D I usually do my neighbors driveway if he's at work and can't get to it before the sun goes down. I didn't use my snowblower the last 2 winters so the main thing is you want to make sure you siphon and run out all the gas left in it before you put it away for a nap. I have a Troy Bilt 24" 2 stage with electric start (never have needed to use it, it pull starts easily) and it has worked well except in heavy slush (it will plug up if it's too wet). I think it could use a little more power when you hit the more packed plow snow they throw up on the sidewalk but it works fine for normal snow. I think we paid $499 for it like 10-12 years ago. The best time to grab a new one is around late Feb when the grills start showing up at the big box stores and they want to move out the snowblowers to make room for the grills.

It's looking like we've decided on a Toro; More snow expected in the next couple of weeks, so waiting until the end of February might not be the idea, plus I'm embarrassed to keep asking neighbors to use theirs...

yeah then it is time might as well get the toro so you have reliable name I just always hate the cheaper ones they always have problems. The model I bought was the power max 826. It can handle just about anything you throw at it.

The Toros within the price range that my dad is willing to pay do not have headlights, but we’ve decided that this isn’t a big deal...

If you buy a new snowblower now, we definitely won't get any more snow this year! :bananadance: But I'm fine with that, I hate winter.

In my opinion, a snowblower is like a gun; Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it! It's also like 4WD...

My snow blower has been used 3 times this year to clear 4", 7" and a 10" snow fall. Another storm is expected this weekend delivering 2-6" followed by temps falling into the below 0 ranges, then there is the windchill.

Feb winter weather is usually more severe than Dec or Jan.

Yes, I have... Twice. I did some work for habitat for humanity while in college and repaired a bunch of appliances. My current oven lower surface is removable by way of 3 screws to access the burner assembly below.

What oven model does op have, anyway? I'm no expert and certainly can't tell from those pictures, like you can.

What is this about dog food? I'm so confused.

My dad's 2018 Yukon SLT has 4WD that he's probably used twice in the more than two years he's owned it. My mom's 2013 Nissan Murano is AWD, and the need for it rarely arises. My parents could have saved a crapload of money by betting the 2WD variants of both vehicles, but even if you rarely use it, it greatly helps with resale in these parts...

Back in 2018, when my dad was looking to sell his Honda Pilot and get something larger, he found a beautiful black Yukon SLT with literally all of the options he wanted; This was in 2018 and this Yukon was not new, but it was not older than 2016 and had relatively low miles. It was also priced really low compared to similar Yukons my dad had looked it at; The selling dealer was O'Neil GMC in Warminster, PA and my dad was ready to buy it, but then he looked closer and realized it was rear-wheel drive. The Tahoe and Yukon have had a standard limited-slip rear differential across the board since the 2015 model year, but while it's possible to get by without 4WD in Southeast PA, RWD variants of SUVs available with 4WD just do not sell well once you get North of about Baltimore; I have NEVER seen a new RWD GM or Ford SUV on any dealer lot in this area, though used ones do to turn up from time to time.

My theory is that someone bought that Yukon new in the South (Virginia Beach, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, possibly Texas) and then unexpectedly had to move to PA; The winter of 2017-2018 was not fun, and I'm guessing that after one winter with a 2WD Yukon the original owner decided to cut their losses and trade it for a comparably equipped 4WD model. Since this Yukon was only a year or to old, had relatively low miles, was LOADED, and in decent shape, the dealer took it on a trade and then priced it well below fair market value to move it quickly.

It's looking like we are going to buy a Toro; I don't want anything fancy, just a reliable 2-stage...

I got mine on spring clearance about 1/3 off. HD had to make room for grills and lawn tractors. It’s a beast @9 HP. Way over kill for a normal year. It does eat snow and ice.

GE 30" single wall oven, electric, self-cleaning, non-convection; Not a GE Profile, just a regular GE. My parents bought the lot, picked the floorplan they wanted, and it was built in a few months between December 2015 and March 2016 if I remember correctly; This is the oven that came with the house...

    Buy whatever brand/model you want.

My post is to indicate the machine is used frequently with fairly heavy snow falls and in extremely cold temperatures.

Glean from it what you will. The winter weather in the MidWest is not a cake walk and is usually severe.

Which means they salt the shit out of the roads, which is why I'd never buy a Taco from there!

Your point must be that Central Bucks, PA does not get snow pack or ice on the roads. Yes?

If that is true, then why is a snow blower needed?

Or Central Bucks uses some chemical to help clear the roads. Meaning your trucks are not immune to rust from winter roads.

Yes it does, but it's not as bad Michigan or parts of New England, and I wash the hell out of the frame after every storm; And the weather in this part of PA is very hit or miss...

Last year, we got almost no snow and it almost always stayed above freezing; Between the winters of 2009-2010 and 2018-2019, we got at least one big snowstorm per year with a bunch of smaller snowfalls that accumulated. 2009-2010 was particularly bad because we just kept getting storm after another from January through March of 2010, and it never got warm enough for the snow to really start melting.

On another note, I can count the number of times I've driven my truck in severe snowy weather on one hand; My truck sat from Sunday night through Tuesday afternoon, and by the time I drove it work this morning the roads were more or less clear.

I'm not trying start a fight or anything, I'm just saying that winter conditions in the upper Midwest are considerably more extreme than in certain parts of the Mid-Atlantic; The "hit or miss" winter weather we get around here is the primary reason my dad has been so hesitant to buy a snowblower, and the last two winters we've have prior to this one have been incredibly mild because quite honestly I cannot remember the last time I've had to remove snow myself prior to December 2020!
