I'm wondering if I should spend the extra $300 for the adjusters on remote reservoir shocks (Kings 2.5 coilovers). My thinking is that if I run them on "firm" when on the road they will help mitigate body roll when running without a sway bar. I might be thinking about it all wrong, what do you guys think?

King adjusters wont do a tremendous amount to help with body roll. Valving a shock to be remove body roll would result in a very stiff shock. Sways bars are extremely beneficial to handling and really should not be removed.

@AccuTune Offroad Cool thanks for the info. Do you know the current lead times from King to get a full set of 2.5s with remote reservoirs? I'd like to get them from you guys with the adventure tune. Last I heard everyone was out

If you are not running a front sway bar would the Fox 2.5 DSC's be a better choice?

Depending on how stiff the spring is in the coilover....ditching the sway bar is a non issue.

700lbs spring on the front corners arent going to allow excessive amounts of body role.

Better yes, still not a fix for removing a sway bar.
:rofl:This is true, so less body roll but horribly stiff ride in exchange.

Why do I see so many people running King over Fox anyway? Is it the bling and I just notice them more on the broverlander builds? I have heard people complaining about Fox being prone to rusting.

Had both, like both, running Kings again with no swaybar. Works.

Popular brand/style and for a while they were easier to get. This Fox vs King article can help clear up a bunch of rumors and incorrect information:

Sway bars, shocks, and springs all have different jobs. In a super over simplified manner a sway bar is just a lever that forces the vehicle to stay level in turns. Springs support the vehicle, and shocks dampen movement.

Let's explore what happens when the truck is making a right turn and the left front wheel hits a bump. If the sway bar, shock, and springs are setup correctly: The sway bar is keeping the truck level, the spring allows the wheel to deflect over the bump, and the shock smooths out the motion. However if the sway bar is removed and the springs and shocks are stiffened to compensate something else happens. The left front of the truck is putting its maximum weight on the spring and shock and the bump can deflect the wheel as it should. BUT, the right wheel is lightly loaded and so stiff that any bump is translated into the frame of the truck. In a straight line every bump is going to come through the frame, hence all the comments about a rough ride.

Some folks drive without a sway bar and it doesn't bother them. Others swear that it is unsafe and you will DIE! I'm sort of a middle ground guy. When my Jeep's (different beast I know) sway bar was disconnected I drove accordingly. City streets up to about 45 mph are fine, but above that I wanted it connected. YMMV

I agree. The fact that my 4yo is with me daily is the sole reason my SB is still in its place. Not willing to take that chance....as long as she still relying on me to keep her safe.

edit - I found this explanation about how springs and shocks need to work together. In 83 years not much has changed lol

I've heard they both rust, but really anything will rust up here, unless you run the aluminum body shocks

I think they have the same coat of zinc whatever to protect them. So when we hear bad things, it's probably from people they know or they themselves that haven't taken care of their rigs. I have salt on my rig from 2 days ago and it's bugging me that it's been on there too long. Lol

    ^ This right here.

If you dont want it to rust (whatever IT is) you need to take measures such as Fluid Film, Woolwax, etc, etc to prevent it.

700# coils are not that stiff. Mine ride pretty damn smooth. Especially dirt roads at 50-70mph. This is innacurrate info...however, I will be trying 14” 650# next go around to compare
