wait your having problems with energy bushings? Whats it doing?

Ive replaced them probably 5-6 times in the last year for the same issue seen below... the original design was much better, but this updated design is bootyhole

Installed properly and torqued to spec every time. The sleeve starts to mushroom wheeling hard, which causes the rack to loosen from the frame. Torque them again, and this process repeats then eventually have to be replaced. I wish I would have kept the original bushings in the rack rather than replacing them as there aren’t any other companies offering aftermarket bushings(that I know of). When I get some time I plan on machining some bushings out of some high strength composite material that should be able to take a beating hopefully

 

Damn i think my bushings are what's causing my popping noise. I think its from the last couple of wheeling trips. I was going to switch to energy but now its looking like i should just buy a new rack to avoid the headache?

Hmmmmm i don’t know what to tell you there.... I would start with someone in your truck turning the wheel back and forth and you looking at the rack and seeing if it’s moving excessively in relation to the frame while also listening for your noise

Brian I have the same noises over the last few months. Been wondering what the issue was.

 

Pretty sure it’s the steering rack bushing. Get someone to turn the wheel and see how much play is in it. Mine moves a good bit and makes that horrible noise lol

 

Guess I’ll let you replace yours and see if that fixes it before I do mine.
