I enter my fuel stops using Fuelly, and I haven't noticed a decrease in fuel economy at all. I have a mid-height rack and RTT as well.

Thanks, I will check out the app. Right now when I have the RTT on I lose 4-5MPG just daily driving. Without the tent I get about 18-19MPG.

Anybody know the height dimensions from the Martin to the Prinsu? Which one sits lower. I would love to support small business and go with the Martin, but I need the lowest sitting rack since my garage is pretty low I have about 6 inches to clear. TIA

A few mods here and there and counting....
Let him know you have a 2020 Tacoma. The stupid shark fin antenna is a bit longer on the 20 and up models causing the rear bar to interfere. My friend got new side rails from Martin to correct this.

Do you ever wonder why America became so dependent on China? This is why.

    Emailed and got this back:
"The double cab rack side rails have now been updated to work with the shark fin antenna on the newer 2020 and 2021 models so you're good to go!"

    Great customer service!!

Martin racks are made by a fellow enthusiast here in the states. Not everyone has to have the same rack. I'm also super glad we don't make chipsets/greenboards and solar panels here in the US-- toxic stuff to mfg. Literally what device you're using to type the forum response was most likely 90% made in China.

I get where you are coming from but we can't do it on our own. Hell our trucks are Japanese

My quote was in reference to the mentality of 'cheaper is better.' In this case of a roof rack I am indifferent - Prinsu should have patented their design. The big issue are Asian countries not playing by the rules and directly coping patented designs and selling them cheaper.

Zach, who founded Prinsu (and a member here long before that Martin Rack guy), was making these in his garage to start out with. Not sure he ever had the time or money to go through the whole patent process proceedings.

But once CBI bought him out, I stopped caring that people ripped off the design.

They both make great racks--- I like the look of Martin (that mountain looking symbol) and yeah at this point it's slightly cheaper and both made in USA. Also same lead time. When did CBI buy him out? Was that a while back?

Yeah the rack thing is tough. Modular parts simply assembled would be difficult to prevent copycats
