Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

My uncle died in powder in 2018 at heavenly. I don't know the details but he was one of the best skiers I've met. I'd assume it was a tree well but I can tell you I'm getting better skis before I go back out off groomers. I also need some more friends who like shredding trees.

The ones on the truck lol I've been debating a couple all mountain partial twin tip options. Atomic Bent Chetler 100, Nordica 104 enforcer free, Solomon QST 99, K2 mind bender, rossignal sky...there's so many good skis to choose from.

Damn you’re brave for trying. We were supposed to head up to Cold Springs last Thursday but the storm delayed us till Saturday. My brother headed up Friday but had to climb through 5 feet of snow to get into the cabin we rented. It’s crazy up here. We got here Saturday and leaving tomorrow. Been amazing but the snow is so difficult to play in with the kids. I step and sink 3 feet.

We skied Sunday and it wasn’t bad at all. Some lines in the morning but overall we were on within 5 minutes. Granted I stayed on the front as I was with my daughter. Perfect conditions though, tons of powder and long sleeve shirt weather.

 

With chains it was easily passable to strawberry, but we did have to dig the snowplow out when he got stuck

I could understand that if you've only skied sierra cement. Get in some waist deep continental range fluff that you float through and you might change your mind.

Yes if still way able to ski. I have to drive in it for work. Powder sucks for that. Sierra cement is the way to go for me to get to work. Can handle up to 13 feet successfully. The powder screws me bad.

 

If you can ski the wet stuff though you can handle anything else out there since you inevitably get to ski hard ice at those areas as well. Dry powder is like a vacation within a vacation.

 

Skied lost prospector as a kid before that lift went in. Best tree skiing ever. When Jupiter Bowl was a hike.

 

100%. The first time I skied powder in Co it blew my mind how easy it was.

 

Same with MT. There's a reason they call it the cold smoke. So light and forgiving
