In 30 years, ETFs will provide you the money to retire comfortably if you fund them consistently.

In stocks, one good trade could give you the money to retire comfortably in 3 weeks. Or you could go bankrupt.

Smart investors do a little bit of both. Hedge for the long term, and roll the dice on some riskier plays.

Some people mimic or mirror what the fund would do and don't have to pay the expense ratio of the fund.

Me? VTI is 0.03%, and eliminates any thought needed. All trades I do are "fun" money with a few real ones tossed in there. All my "real" money just goes straight to VTI.

I might flip a stock or position for 10% profit, or an option randomly for 50% profit in a day, but since I'm playing with only so much money there, I'm not getting a lot in terms of $$$, just %%% of the play money.

 

Ah that could be why. I put it in last week when I signed up. Got everything confirmed to trade this week but not crypto. POS service gonna make me miss the rocket!

I'm sure there are a LOT of former employees who would have been let go for social media activities AFTER leaving employment...Simply because people don't like attention.

My 401 does all the small gains. Especially with who's in office now.

My Roth is play money that I use in stocks or for quicker gains (which have been quick loses here lately)

I would've done it anyway. I'm tight af. This is a splurge for me just to try to reel in extra coin quickly. I looked at it as it's a fantastic time to try it.. Other than this I like to buy large shares then pull out if it has a quick incline. Buying 10-25 shares is useless imo.... unless it's something really dumb such as GME and AMC....then diamond hands

I just hope once it all shakes out we won't be waking up to having to have $50k minimum balances for options trading, and the PDT rule being even more restrictive than it is.
