Gold has seemed to be popular on Tacomas lately. I love the way it looked when I was shopping for my Ray 10s but I don't think I have the personality to pull them off. I might get these in the bronze with a less aggressive tread/lighter tire for everyday commuting. I think bronze on black would look nice.

My vote is you add 4Runner to the great title to make it less confusing. You already have a 2020 Pro replica thread and now a 2021, but 2021 Tacoma’s are the same. I think it will help you when people are searching for 4Runner pro wheels.

FWIW, I think a 2mm offset difference in your poll is near 'zero' value. I'd be REALLY interested in a -15, -10, -5, 0, 5, 10, 15 poll with multiple options allowed. Something spanning a range of tastes. The -10, -12 is kind of like "Do you want the 18 oz steak, or the 20 oz?"

I agree with the brushed finishes. It would add some uniqueness to the wheels for sure but just not sure how this style would look. The Ray10’s looks great in brushed due to the lip and full face spoke style.

No offense taken! I actually don’t know how I missed your comment. It makes a lot of sense. I’ll bring it up with our team to discuss. The higher negative offsets will cater to those with lifts and/or other modifications needed to make them fit. Our initial goal is to appeal to the stock trucks or very limited modifications needed crowd but offering those higher negative offsets might be something we produce later on.

There's a whole crowd of 'skinny guys' (wheels that is) that don't need negative offset. The tall skinny tire likes a slightly positive offset; ie see the 'put 255/85/16s on your stock off-road' thread. Many are getting away with 33's with no or limited trimming. There might be an untapped market for you there.

The design of the ebay knock-offs are way off OEM, and not very similar to his renders either. Specifically the spoke length/widths are wrong. The width/offset/weight are also different.

Thanks for checking in guys! These are definitely not ours, we have yet to make them available. Seems like some other manufacture beat us to the line in making them available to the public. However, I can't speak to the quality and the specs are in a +5 offset and not "Flow Formed".

Well, once he's done testing the prototype, I volunteer my services for long term testing on and offroad ;) my 250 something followers on instagram will surely be very interested

another vote for -10 offset. would love to see a rendering of the bronze shade if possible too.

This is completely from a state of ignorance...

I tend to see the same offsets on wheels, and on the 3rd gen tacoma it seems like all of them are a compromise one way or another.

I there a better offset that would make meat fit in our wells better? maybe -9 would maximize the amount of rubber that we could jam in, maybe it's +12. If they're custom building a rim anyway shouldn't we shoot for something that is the best of everything?

Sure, but there isn't really a one size fits all when it comes to wheels, as fitmit also depends on your suspension components and the tires you put on as well.

OEM wheels from what I've noticed are +10 usually, and a positive offset means the wheel is tucked closer to the body, to simplify it. So a negative offset pushes the face of the wheel outwards. This helps with clearing interior suspension components like the spindle and UCA, but then presents a new fitment challenge where the fenders and cab mount are concerned depending on lift, tire, and suspension parts.

If they went too negative, lots of people with wider tires would immediately need a lot of trimming/cutting to make em fit if they haven't done so already, especially if they go offroad at all. Going more positive wouldn't benefit anyone really as it would just reduce suspension clearance.

Going more negative offset also enlargens your turning radius I believe. though I'm sure most wouldn't notice or care much, but it's one more thing to consider.

From what I've read on these trucks 'suspension' (excluding diff LCAs etc.) doesn't really change the amount of tire that can fit, because ultimately your not changing the travel, just the normal ride position.

So there should be a way to maximize the tire width and height, while centering it in a position that misses the fender, UCA, and pinch weld. All by adjusting the offset.

If stock +10 ends up hitting the UCA, maybe +8, +7, etc. will clear that, instead of going all the way to 0 or negative immediately. I've seen a lot of people that put a spacer, but even there (ignoring that spacers are less than ideal in the first place) you're limited by what can be physically bolted on safely.

Sure, but that hinges on everyone utilizing the same spec tire, same width rim, and same UCA across all platforms.

As soon as you change one of the variables, the "universal" offset no longer applies. Not to mention clearance changes based on on or offroad driving. What could be the perfect universal offset for mall crawlers likely wouldn't suffice for people who wheel regularly.

As for your first statement...that certainly isn't true. A suspension lift alone can give someone enough clearance not to rub on road if they didn't change their wheel/tire setup too much, where it might have rubbed before on the OEM suspension.
