I am just trying a new strategy and have been looking into puts paper trading as doing ok so far. I just haven’t done it enough to really know what is a decent premium price and these just seem crazy. Maybe I just need to understand more about how these premiums get priced - I guess what I mean is how is the value of it derived.

the same patterns i see over and over on these huge run ups and then the drop back to reality.

I just want to capitalize up and down or down and up or sideways lol

just adding tools to my toolbox since everyone only chases the up but money can be made in any direction

 

I've taken this approach too. I also use the Acorns app which will round up purchases from your debit cards to nearest whole dollars and invests into your Roth IRA. Over time you'd be surprised how much goes in there, I just try not to look at it. It also helps with my severe OCD to have rounded numbers on my statement

I also use betterment which is a free IRA/Roth IRA app that you can manage yourself. I've been pretty happy with it for a few years.

Can’t get myself to toss $4-5k into some of these but I bet I would make a decent chunk.

Paper trade, and spend a month reading everything you can about options.

I almost never buy puts. The premiums relative to the volatility are way higher than the respective calls.

@TreeFortRichard and @theesotericone both short on occasion and they make money doing it.

Me, when it comes time to short, I go find something else that's making money. I don't usually have the guts to bet on down swings lol

I make money in both directions. They key is having a good strategy for entry and exit points. Looking at SAVA's chart there is no way I enter a short position right now.

 

Does acorns work with credit cards ?

I haven’t paid with cash or a debit card in at least a decade. Too many free rewards out there. Would love to round up and charge my card and “pay” my IRA or something though.
