Very odd seeing SN95 wheels on it, that particular wheel was never very attractive. Possibly they just stuck them on for winter so the regular wheels don't get torn up in snow?

Owner said they were on there when he bought it; It’s a V6/slushbox, so it didn’t exactly have the really nice wheels...

But that damage to the left rear would probably result in the car being totaled at this point...

@PennSilverTaco Special effects in movies have really improved over my lifetime, this Tazmanian Devil creature was not bad from Creepshow back in the early 1980's.

I’ve never done it on purpose; I did by accident at BJ’s because you’re only allowed to go one way and I had to stretch the pump hose across the truck to reach the fuel filler. Today, I did it because I thought the gas pump was malfunctioning.

So, I’ve overfilled the gas tank in my truck three times, all by accident; I vaguely remember this same inconsistency occurring like six or seven years ago...

You should be fine. I’m going to guess the sending unit might have had a problem.
I’d keep an eye on the miles driven and see how it corresponds with the gas gauge.
My this was just one of those “weird things” that can happen.

You’ll know if the gauge keeps acting up on you.

Also, I’ve determined that a major cause of my truck’s poor gas mileage is the effect of cold winter weather on ethanol-based fuels; I also found out that my truck gets better gas mileage (especially on the highway) with 89 or 91 instead of 87 (I put 87/regular in my truck 98% of the time). Premium 93 at BJ’s is cheaper than regular 87 at just about every other gas station in my area, so I’m going to run my truck on premium for a week and see what happens.

The highest average MPG I’ve observed in the last year or so was 22 MPG on the turnpike driving home from Carlisle last August; Ironically, I accidentally put 89 in the truck at Sheetz before hitting the road because I was not paying attention, and I ran 89 in my truck after that to see what would happen. Mileage was much better on the highway, but negligible around town; As such, I almost exclusively run 87 in my truck but I’ve been making a killing with DoorDash so I am going to run 93 for a week.

Kinda like when my Auto LSD light came on all by itself, or when the CEL came on that time I disconnected the horn...?

FYI, in more than 11 years and almost 124K miles, I can proudly say the “horn incident” is the only time my CEL has ever been on!

I don’t know how long you’ve been doing DoorDash, but stop and go driving kills fuel mileage.

Out of curiosity, does DoorDash pay per mile or per order?

Per order, but one day I made over $100 while spending $21 on gas that same day. I’ve added it up many times, and while my Tacoma’s gas mileage is pretty lousy at times, I’ve determined I’m still making a profit.

Best I’ve observed is 22 and worst is 14; However, this is just “average”, and I suspect I’m actually getting around 23-24 MPG on the highway.

I believe my range is about 300 miles on a full tank of gas, but I’ve never let it get that low...

My dad’s Yukon often gets better mileage than my truck, but the Yukon has the ability to deactivate four of its eight cylinders...

Been a long time since I checked mine.
I think it was in the 340-360 when the light came on?

I usually start looking to fuel up at the 1/4 tank mark.

    And you have a V6...?

I don’t really give a shit what my gas mileage is; My only concern is that it’s not indicative of a serious problem with the truck!

All this talk of jobs and money makes me miss the year 2015; That year, I was at the top of my game job-wise!

My primary source of income was working as a bar back at a local bar, and I had that job for just over four years; From July to November of 2015 I worked a second job delivering pizzas for a pizzeria right around the corner from the bar...

My third source of income was making a once-weekly run to Costco for my friend who owns a hoagie shop, in exchange for thirty dollars cash and a free lunch; This added up to over $1,400 for the year! On top of that, the hoagie place is within walking distance of both the pizzeria and the bar!

I actually hit 50K miles in my truck in July 2015 while driving to Costco on one of these food/supply runs (I hit 100K exactly four years later)!

    Yes, I have a V6.
As for the MPG, I kind of had you confused with some one else I responded to earlier.
Some else, in another post was asking about MPG, and a lot of folks said it was likely due to winter grade gas. Anyways, I don’t think the sending unit (fuel gauge) is a “serious” problem.
I’d consider it an inconvenience IF it continues to cause problems.

Obviously you’d want to eventually fix it, so you don’t have to fill up “as frequently”.

Again, I’d wait it out. You may never have another problem.
