They slide all over the place. I quarter throttle it and slide all over. I'm over them.

I wonder if its just your set?

I've had mine on for 7+ months and over 10k miles now and i've had no issues with them except in ice (which lets be honest we can't expect much on ice with a MT). I've been driving in torrential downpour to scattered showers, with no issues. Only time i've had slip was on a super steep winding hill when it was raining but that is somewhat of an extreme scenario.

I wish they handled better, they are sexy. But they are downright dangerous to drive. My gf looks at me around corners when we slide and thinks I'm doing it on purpose.

I wouldn't change my mind based on one person's comments. There is a lot of good feedback on these tires.

That said, if you are having difficulty with KO2's, you might want to avoid MT's altogether.

This seems a bit dramatic. They have been around for awhile with generally very good reviews.

To be fair, I've only driven about 500 miles on mine. But, that included some pretty bad conditions, including slushy wet roads, deep snow, and packed snow. I was actually quite impressed with how they handled. But, then again, I had KO2's for about 30K miles and never had a problem with them, either.

Strange. Ko2s are nortious on here for terrible snow and not so great wet. Guess it's all perspective. But when quarter throttle breaks the tires loose, in our torqueless trucks, that's an issue.

Only a small percentage of people say those things about KO2's. Look at reviews. 90+ % of drivers actually like those tires. And you have it backwards as it's the wet traction that folks complain about.

My point is that when only a small percentage of people have an issue with a product, it might not be a problem with the product. With tires, it seems that the problem is usually with people's expectations.

I drive according to conditions and base my expectations on the type of tires I'm using, and I'm rarely surprised or disappointed.

Every MT, without exception, will be awful in rain and snow when compared with tires designed for those conditions.

I've had my tires rotated and all 4 have been equally terrible on the rear w traction, so idk about the idea or a defective tire works. My driving habit is mellow. I just am very unimpressed w the tire, which sucks bc they are an amazing looking tire.

What I'm saying is that if you're "unimpressed" with these tires, you will likely be unimpressed by ANY mud tire. I think your expectations are probably too high. If you expect an MT to perform in wet conditions like Wildpeaks, you're not being realistic.

THIS! As somebody who's had almost every A/T & M/T on the market as of about 2-3 years ago (ex @Discount Tire vet of 15 years), this is arguably one of the BEST M/T's on the market. Comparing this tire to the Wildpeak is apples and oranges. I've had the Geolandar M/T G003 on 3 different vehicles ('11 Grand Cherokee, '18 T4R, & '06 GX470), and they're the quietest M/T I've ever had. Wet traction is above average for M/T's which typically have no siping for wet traction. I will ABSOLUTELY buy another set (Thinking 285/70/17 or 285/75/17) for the GX without hesitation once it's off daily duty.

I had KO2s before these and i honestly never had issues with them, same thing both in snow and in rain. I think the challenge is, people are more likely to voice their negative opinions than positive and its easy to create a narrative now that KO2s are not good in rain etc (Echo chamber). IMO they were an amazing set of tires and i'd get them again if they were priced more comparable to other good ATs

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I roll a lot of different tires. I am currently running all of these.

Best ones I have experienced this far are, in order of my preference:

General Grabber x3 (great traction everywhere, tend to walk out of the turn at higher speed, wear quicker than most, better traction than all of them Offroad)

BFG KM3 (just put these on my taco, ride like butter in the road, with the new compound they actually stick to the road better than the KOs all around, great Offroad, one of the sexiest tires out there).

Toyo RTs (these are literally the quietest and easiest to balance than any other. Don’t like road noise and want an aggressive AT, then get these. I can literally roll in my built wheelin FJC at 80mphs with no bs).

BFG KO (had these on everything, from my bronco in the 90s to my ‘18trd pro runner. What can I say, they have been the standard, however there are better tires in the AT market.
I would buy the General or Wildpeaks over these. BFGs don’t hook up in the rain, you can beat the shit out of them on the trail, but in the mud they get caked up and become a ski)

Toyo AT2 (rides nice, put them on my dads truck, complete garbage Offroad, can’t even get out of wet grass lol).

I am looking to get some GEOs soon, and will post my feedback.

    interesting observation.
I had the reverse issue. I was not a fan of my wildpeaks, very poor wet, snow, ice traction for a tire with the blessed snowflake rating. I ended up giving them to a co-worker and bought a set of st-maxx.
The wildpeaks also wouldn’t balance and I made the mistake of ordering through a shady eBay store that wouldn’t work with Falken on a return. I tried manual balancing (moving the factory paint mark to the valve stem IIRC) tried road force balancing, and even finding a shop with the Toyota adapter cone.

It's no surprise to me that these get loose on wet roads with our light weight composite beds.

However, I've had the G003's out on the trails: slickrock, loose rock, mud, sand and they performed very well except for snow (not great). For what they are designed for, they are an excellent grabby tire for the price.

Also, I noticed a price increase from $240 to $256 for 285/70/17's since I first started looking at these.

I’m running a set of 295/70/17s and I’ve been nothing but impressed. Yeah sure, they aren’t great on the ice and living in northern BC that’s a common problem, but I never expected them to be good in winter. The tread life has been really good so far too.

Big tip: keep your alignment in check and they stay quiet. Mine ended up wearing funny after a janky alignment and they got super loud. Now that my alignment has been fixed and they have started wearing properly again they are pretty quiet for an MT.

I think you can probably find a better price. I just got 295/70/17's for about $240/tire.
