Good morning, all. We got a fast 3" of snow yesterday morning here in my corner of northeast PA - plowed and shoveled it by 9AM.

Yesterday was another of those days where I'm reminded that I am a full-fledged member of the 60+ group. Woke up with the clear symptoms of a Vitreous Separation in my left eye - right eye went about two years ago. Called my optometrist and was in his chair at 10:30 - eyes dilated, Optomap pictures done and bright lights in both eyes...and the infamous "ummm, I don't like the looks of that" comment. Off to the retinal specialist, eye numbing drops and more drops to dilate the pupils again. Confirmed some light hemorrhaging in the left eye...could be signs of a coming ear in the Vitreous...or not. Finally got home at 3:45, pupils dilated wide open = ate some lunch and went down into the family room in the basement where it was dark and slept for 3 hours.

I go back for a recheck next Wednesday - unless something happens in the meantime. I will confirm that driving with your pupils dilated wide open on a sunny afternoon after 4 days of snowfall is painful, even with sunglasses.

Life is good, despite the pitfalls of this older age crap!!:D

Stay safe and warm out there.

I feel your pain, Mark. I have some of the same issues, and I'm probably on my last DL.

    Good morning Mark
Learning about some new affliction or ailment all the time is part of getting older some times.
I really sympathize with you. What's the treatment for that vitreous separation?

    Remedies for Vitreous Detachment

Laser. If the vitreous pulls a small part of the retina away from the eyeball, a retina tear or detachment occurs. Vitrectomy has a high success rate in treating severe floaters, improving vision in over 90 percent of cases.
Other treatments.. Cryotherapy, a freezing technique done as an office procedure.

    Good Morning folks.
Hope your eye issue gets better fast. Best wishes and positive thoughts heading your way. Be safe.
I have to call an appliance repair guy today. The Maytag mini washer took a dump last night(Deb kind of overloaded it) and something let loose on the spin cycle...$$$$$$ is all I saw last night. I hope it's nothing major, guess I'll find out :spending:
Have a good day and stay safe folks.

    Good morning All,

Col, sorry to hear all the snow plowing and now sun shine has caused this little set-back. I assume (shouldn't assume I suppose) that the conditions triggered the outcome - parts-are-parts and they all wear out in time. We are all of that age where our parts start to show the wear-n-tear from over the years. In my thoughts and prayers it gets resolved quickly and easily.

Light snow last night after a very warm day yesterday - now we have a week of cold weather and possible (key word - possible) snow over the next week or so. So all the melt yesterday goes t ICE under the new snow - slip sliding away...

Have a great and safe day all

Almost forgot - got a voicemail yesterday afternoon to schedule my vaccine - :bananadance::fingerscrossed:

Sorry about you eye Mark. Wishing you a speedy recovery. My wife is off to the eye specialist today for another follow up minor correction. Retina and cataract procedures can get complicated.

Another gorgeous day in Bowie. New corner desk is supposed to arrive today. Lateral file chest was delivered yesterday. Son is home to help me, or if my plan goes well, I will help him assemble furniture.

Welcome to the porch Dennis  . There are a couple of us over 70's in here. I'm working on 3 years over 70. Body is semi old, but spirit and mind is a lot younger. Still enjoying life.. a few folks on the porch share some of your hobbies so enjoy the thread.

Update on the washer. Left it uplugged overnight and plugged it in this AM tried running a whole wash cycle and  it seems to be okay. Working as advertised. Told Deb only fill the tub half full not shoe horn full. Saving the money on any repair means going out for a nice dinner:D. Instead of hot dogs (I enjoy them occasionally but not twice in one week:eek:). Have a great one folks. I am:woot:

Holy shiet, 58* this morning!!! That is freakin' freezing around here. We had a small rainstorm come through, and behind it came north winds which really cooled things down.

Sorry to hear about your eye Mark. At least you are under the care of a retinal specialist. Those doctors are among the smartest best trained physicians around. I’ve been seeing retinal specialists for wet macular degeneration in one eye for ten years. I get a shot in my one eye every 8 weeks and have for 10 years. They have maintained my vision in that eye at 20/25 and my good eye remains 20/20 without glasses. Retinal specialists are my hero’s. I wish you well in kicking the ass of your eye problem.
