So, you're going to design one that is cable operated? I thought you said you were using a solenoid, which would be electrical. Am I missing something?

The fail safe override would be to get to the back of the fuel filler door area by removing the cubby hole in the box, and removing the locking mechanism.

Yep changed my mind, going with a cable design, It is allot easier, and is spring loaded so the door is always locked until lever is pulled.

Thanks all went well and it looks super! Thanks for helping light up a dark corner. Two comments. There was no screw in my kit to hold the PC board in the switch body so I super glued it in, cannot see going backwards. Second item was on the PDF instruction from the link. Add the part about pulling out the center console. I found it in the other link. Took me all of 30-40 minutes with double checking before committing. Tomorrow the center console gets pushed back in as I could not find my MIA electrical tape roll!
Anyway I give this a 4.5 out of 5 very easy with good rewards!
    Thanks for the product support!:D

16 of the old configuration left, and 2 customizable units to the first two that PM me.
The surface mount version of the pcb is on order and should be ready for sale in early January for those that are waiting for the new version.

Got mine installed today... Followed the instructions and everything went smooth. I did the solder approach, both to the switch and the AC power leads.

The only "iffy" thing for me was that the molex connects fit very loosely in the molex connecter. I tried to expand the latch to make them stay in there too. Ended up attaching the molex to the switch, and then pushing the connectors down into the plug. Looks like the ones on the red and white wires are smaller than the ones that were already in the plug.

Mine too. I found that the connectors fit very loosely into the plug; they didn't snap/lock into the plug's channels like the factory wire ends do. So I simply connnected the plug to the back of the switch first (after soldering everything else), then slid the wires from your kit into the plug and made sure the connectors slid snugly over the pins/blades on the back of the switch. All is well, but if I were to pull on the two wires from this kit, they would come out of the switch. Since I'm not pulling, and there's no pressure on the wires as they sit behind the switch and in the dash, there's no worries!

Yeah, I noticed that too- The molex crimps on the kit wires are a little smaller that the ones for the stock connector. Mine are just jammed into the hole, but they make good contact. I love my lighted switch, though!

    Thanks, Shannon!

Good to know guys, i will definitely look for a little bigger pin. Can't have loose pins in the worlds greatest trucks. !!!!

Me too, I slid mine in after connecting the plug. Otherwise no problems, it works great and looks good.

Just finished install. Went perfectly, even though I'm a lousy solderer. I wonder if the pin problem is not installing them in the right position? I rotated the first pin three times before looking at the existing wire pins and noticed what position the crimp (pin to wire) was facing. They felt loose and would pull out until they were rotated to the right position, then click, they snap right in.
Shannon I hope you make a fortune creating things like this that look factory, that the factory forgot to add.

I had the "loose pins" issue as well, but I apparently found some sort of "sweet spot" where they finally locked in tight after repeated removal and re-insertions into the connector.

    Double-entendre not intended.

There was no sweet spot with my pins they were definatly smaller than the other pins.
