It took three of us to get the damn thing out (one driving and two pushing), but we finally succeeded!

I think you're going to find that the quality of the light output is not nearly as good with the $40 kit.

I bought it mostly for the wiring; If I don’t like the lights, I can just get new ones and plug them in...

Sure, If it’s a problem replace it.
While you are in there you might as well replace the fuel pump.
Before I did this, I’d make sure you have a problem.
I think it might have just been one of those things that happens.
    Might never happen again.

    Looks normal to me.
Mine usually take 40 miles before it ever move off the full mark.
Then it goes pretty quick to the 3/4 mark.
I think I’m usually around 80-90 miles before it hits 3/4.
Been a long time since I paid much attention to it.

I kind of don’t think about it. I have to have gas.
    So it doesn’t really matter.
With gas Boeing up here in East Tn, I definitely don’t want to think about it.

i haven't a clue if the stock bumper mounting for fog lights has changed?
but on my '05 TRD there aren't any brackets to hold the fog lamps...
there are 2 molded holes in the bumper to accept the "pins" that are part of the lamps. and an additional hole in the bumper molding, in back bottom center to accept the lamp aiming adjustment...

bought a replacement set of lamp housings off ebay... cheap chinese product. that weren't even wide enough to securely push into the existing bumper holes. the entire assys were too narrow to stay mounted. returned and reordered from a different vendor ($45.- ish)

It very well could be, Did they test the sending unit? Seeing as this isn’t the easiest thing to “test”.
Unless there as an easy way to test it, You pretty much have to pull the sending assembly/float from the fuel tank to test it. (Remove the bed or drop the tank)
As far as I know the Tacoma uses a variable resistor (like potentiometer) to send a signal to the fuel gauge. I don’t know how you could conclude it was a cluster problem with out first testing the sending unit?

It’s actually not all that uncommon to have a “dead” spot.

I’m not saying it isn’t the the cluster. But it’s a good bit of work to diagnose it as the cluster.

Well my truck started with the fuel gauge. Then the whole tachometer went out and now it doesn’t count mileage either so when I went in and ask the parts department some questions. This is what they came up with I have not had them do any testing

Yep, that sounds like the cluster.
I believe there have been a few guys on here that have had theirs repaired.

As stated before, 93 at BJ’s is cheaper than 87 pretty much everywhere else...

I was going to go to BJ’s and get more 93, but I figured my next estimate would be highly inaccurate due to the tank having been overfilled yesterday; I decided to fill up at Wawa today just to get the tank back on track. If the excess fuel is not accounted for, then I got 120 miles out of quarter tank of gas and averaged 20 MPG overall, but I know this is not the case; 91 and 93 are both obscenely expensive at Wawa, so I filled up with 89 and go figure, the needle went all the way to the top without issue!

I keep my bedroom window open slightly to even out the temperature, and just minutes ago I heard what I believe to be a rabbit getting torn apart by two foxes; I do not know for sure that it was a rabbit, but I've seen videos of snakes eating live rabbits and that's sure what it sounded like!

At first I thought it was my dad out back with Porter, but then I realized the sound wasn't human; The sound I heard was lot like the scream of a rabbit in distress...

I went downstairs, and I told my parents that I believed a rabbit just got killed in the woods behind our house; My dad immediately went out back and heard nothing, but saw two red foxes out by the trees (not in the confines of our yard); There were footprints leading up from the reservoir behind our house, and I didn't see any blood, but I saw a fox and my dad says he saw two so it looks like rabbit got double-teamed by duo of foxes. I will be going to investigate tomorrow!
