 So sad. Reminds me of a guy I work with...he's lived in the same house for about three years now and has NEVER used the stove or oven.

    you said duty

but seriously, i have tried. i bought some ground beef the other day. put it in my freezer and it froze solid. put it in the microwave on defrost a couple of times, and it never seemed to come out right, edges got really soft and mushy, but the middle was still rock solid. i took a bit of meat from the edges, threw it in a pan on the stove, and it started smoking really bad for some reason (i think it may have had something to do with the pan :notsure:) so i turned it off, opened a window so my smoke alarm wouldn't go off, then went out for some arby's

If you are just going to use the ground beef as ground beef (not for hamburgers or anything that needs to stick together) put it in a pan on low... as the meat cooks, scrape the cooked stuff off and flip the meat over. Repeat until all meat is cooked. Drain fat and mix with whatever you are having.

I don't defrost ground beef in the microwave for that very reason.

i just figured to defrost it because i didn't plan on using all of it, i was going to cook a bit and save the rest

but as far as the smoking, do pans require some sort of "break-in" period?? like with the coating or whatever?? this was the first time i tried using that particular one and i wasn't sure if the coating had a reaction to the heat

Is it new? Has it been washed? What temp did you set the burner on?

Nope, you had the heat up too high. Add some water next time.
