I pretty much can't watch that channel any more. Their quality has really fallen off. They basically read the brochure to me. I tune in for the Baby Yoda videos (watch them at double speed) and go on with my day.

    I love it, but I'm a bit biased considering I own a '10 6spd Pro-4x. I'll be checking them out in a few years.

By my eye it looks nothing like a Tacoma or F-150. To me it fits in with every new Nissan product since MY2020, especially the Titan.

My take exactly. Its a nice-looking Tacoma look-alike that has caught up to the competition...for now. The problem for Nissan is that Tacoma and Ranger are already working on their redesigns that will almost certainly involve electrification. Would not mind test driving one though.

No hate for Nissan, they've been making decent trucks, and their designers are at least doing a great job understanding what's popular. This will most certainly boost sales and help them out a lot. Honda should take note.

If you design a truck and it DOESN'T have an oversized embossed name across the middle of the tailgate, it's never going to be cool enough.

I will say this. Having JUST bought my Tacoma, coming from Nissan, I have zero buyers remorse in not waiting for the new frontier. I almost bought a Titan, but it felt very cheap inside for a 55k dollar truck. Id buy another Xterra in a heartbeat. But, the Tacoma is great, and has endless amounts of aftermarket support.
The new design of the frontier at least takes away the "old man " truck look i thought it had.

Honda's mistake is that they don't actually make a truck. They're passing off an SUV with a bed as if it was a truck.

If Honda was to make a body-and-cab-on-frame truck, that would definitely change the midsize truck market.

100%, they have the means and the reliability to offer an amazing body on frame truck that'll be a hit with many folks. I really hope they eventually do this, I'd love to see Toyota have a large competitor like Honda push their game a bit.

    Somewhere hot, flat and brown.
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery I guess..I'm stunned at how much it looks like a 3rd gen tacoma. Seriously stunned.

Wheels, tailgate, dash layout. Hell, they even debuted it in a Cement-ish color!

I'm kinda reminded of those Chinese knock off BMW X5s that you see in the car blogs. I can almost guarantee non-car people would struggle to tell them apart from 25 ft away.

Exterior looks good. probably because i think tacoma's, sierra's and F150's look good. definitely a mixed-race truck. interior looks great for 2005. tacoma interior, which people love or hate, Is much better and truck like. this interior looks like the mix of a sports car (doors) HVAC controls (shitty GM parts bin) with a screen...

They FINALLY released a full new third gen?

If Nissan released it like five years earlier I might've still been in a Nissan. But as of now it's doubtful that I'll ever go back to Nissan.

The previous gen actually had a bit more rear legroom then in the Tacoma. Maybe like an inch or so?

One of my main issues with the second gen Frontier was that the rear seat backs of the crew cab was practically at a 90 degree angle. That and the turning radius but you learn to adapt to that.

But other than had no real issues with it, well also some shakes and rattles and parts going out before I thought they should. So hopefully they didn't goof up with the third gen too much. Also I liked that feature where you could fold the front passenger seat down. It made child seats practically a non issue other than the wife having to sit in the back for a while. So hope they kept that feature too.

I think the 3rd gen is way better looking but I get the appeal of the look of this truck; it has Silverado vibes IMO which a lot of people like.

I am glad that this truck was made and is pushing some things (having rear disc brakes and hopefully hood struts). I hope Nissan sells a ton of these things and push Toyota to offer things that are more commonplace in 2021.

    WTF are "Zero Gravity Seats"
    and "Hydraulic Cab Mounts"
    ??

And no way in hell do I want a 9-speed automatic. I'll wait for an electric vehicle at that point.

Overall, a very smart move by Nissan. They have been hurting (read that losing money) and have really been struggling with a turnaround plan. Not a bad business strategy here. I think they were selling like 7,000 Frontiers a quarter, near the bottom. They have to be feeling pretty good right now. The truck looks good. Set aside all of the "they copied this, they copied that." They have to feel good that the truck looks decent, it will get a lot of attention and if they price it right (with good lease deals, etc.) they should be able to at least double their sales with the potential to triple sales. I mean, they are selling 7,000 trucks a year with an ugly design they have not updated in 15 years. Quick refresh. Good enough. $3K to $5K less than a Tacoma or a Ranger. Decent reputation for tough trucks. Boom. They have a play here.

No, they are not going to knock the Tacoma off its perch as number one. But if they can move from 7,000 units to 15,000 to 20,000 units they can move into the top three in the segment. Hold the line and shoot for number two from there. Not a terrible strategy ... and the truck looks pretty darn okay for achieving that goal.

Edit. I stand corrected. They have not updated the Frontier in 17 years!
