I guess I'm the minority, but I don't think it looks that much like a Tacoma. The front end is boxier than the Taco (the hood stays more horizontal toward the front, although both grills are nice and vertical), and the body lines and headlights follow a similar scheme as the Titan. If anything, the tail lights are very F-150, and the headlights are more like the current Silverado. But I agree with a few other posts that it looks a lot more like the Nissan Titan Warrior concept from a few years ago, and it's typical for styling details from concept vehicles to end up in production models a few years later.

I think this is a great move by Nissan. There is a solid (all be it, small) following within the Nissan community, and they've been oh so patiently waiting for this refresh. As anticipated as it was, it looks like Nissan is delivering on a lot of what the mid-sized truck owner is looking for. I had a 2010 Nissan Xterra that I literally ran the wheels off of. I traded it in for the Tacoma in October, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't holding out for this new Frontier for some time. When they announced that the 2021 model was going to be a carryover of (very outdated) 2020 model, I decided to move to the Tacoma because I couldn't wait any longer. That, and I don't like purchasing the first year of any new model, and I also didn't want to wait another year or two on top of that for aftermarket support (bumpers, skids, sliders, etc.). Although if Nissan can convince enough "weekend warriors" to purchase this thing, we'll see a lot of aftermarket support in a very short amount of time.

If Nissan would reboot the Xterra (just make an SUV version of this new Frontier), it would sure give the 4Runner a hell of a time in the market. I used to call my Xterra my "poor man's 4Runner." :p

No ones saying it’s a bad thing marketing wise. People seem to like it a lot. But that’s probably because they like the Tacoma or f150 styling so a midsize hybrid of high sales trucks is obviously attractive to people.

Not going to lie. if this truck was cheaper as spec'ed and offered better drivability i might not have bought my tacoma.

Look at the wheels on the Frontier. Nearly identical to the OR wheels

Thats pretty much been the Frontiers niche for the last 5-10 years. Very competitive price wise. If they all the sudden bump this thing up into Tacoma territory that’s where it becomes difficult for Nissan. But who really knows what they are after as far as sales numbers. Probably hoping to get a lot of current Frontier owners to upgrade.

Honestly looks like a better version of the taco just without the aftermarket

the former owners looking to upgrade will make for a long line. The nissan dealerships near me are terrible and was another reason for finding a different truck.

Basically what Hyandui does all the time with their cars. Just copy portions of other vehicles, paste them together and its a G35...I mean Genesis.

Holy crap... I was dismissive at first, but the tailgate and rear bumper look just like the Tacoma. Not to mention the drop down front side windows, borrowed from Ford.

    upload_2021-2-4_15-47-3.jpg

Still has the stupid rear cab shape that bulges over the bed... :puke:

Also has billies... like the Offroad

I bought my '21 TRD OR about 5 months ago. I wasn't interested in looking at any of the other mid sized trucks. Had this been available I might have looked at it, as Nissans are usually less expensive, and they've certainly upgraded the exterior looks. The interior would have turned me off though, and I've had better luck with Toyotas. The last Nissan p/u I purchased was a nearly new Datsun. It was OK, and what I could afford at the time. Been awhile ago.

Who would have thought a pickup truck would look like a pickup truck??

    I like it, personally.
