If it was me, i'd just add another muffler and remove the res altogether unless you have room for it too. I ran one borla on my truck and it was insanely loud without anything else. After adding another muffler of the same type, it is much much quieter. I am probably going to add a third at some point

I agree. Ive got lots of room pre- magnaflow to put something really long in there. Ive never really been a fan of sound of straight through mufflers especially on a 4banger. Once the other stuff is done ill probly put the longest 2.5” series 50 i can to help with super low rpm scavenging. Should drastically change the ricer sounds too

    A thing or two...
I'm running a Vibrant 12" resonator with the LCE cutback, which uses a Magnaflow muffler. It was almost undrivable because it was so loud when I first installed the catback.

Here’s a video of mine with the two borlas. This was with the windows down. Its much better with them up since the whole cab has been sound deadened. It still barks a little more than i like but i can live with it for now. I have been working on welding up all the notches on the mufflers right now and ditching the clamps, two gone so far, i think three to go. Also welded on the turn down so that baby isnt going anywhere now:D

After watching yours i honestly think ours are About the same. I was thinking about doing the cab insulation on the back corner next to the bed exit exhaust. Seems like it will help. I videoed it again and it was way quieter. I think the in cab microphone connected to bluetooth was getting resonation from the cab due to being mounted on the upper windshield frame. I disabled my bluetooth and it was a way quieter video.

Yay rev limiter! Although- it seems like it's kicking in early? Any reason you set it that low? And I love the check engine light and scared beep like the truck was going "ahhhh what are you doing to me!?!"

I agree on the un-drivable part. The drone was so bad w/single muffler. And just straight up loud. The video is of the Flowmaster HP2 muffler all by itself. The tunnel doesnt help but you get the sound profile it was putting off. Also pre S/C

Yeah that first video of yours i thought damn, thats loud! As far as sound deadening I did the whole cab and doubled up on the floor over where the exhaust runs on the passenger side and it really helps a lot.

i set it to 5500 but it seems like it kicks in around 5400, so i am not sure whats up with that. I figured itd be better with boost to set it a little lower. The tune i originally had didnt have a rev limiter and i figured that out one day while datalogging, i revved it to almost 5900. It made me a little paranoid so i dialed it back to stock

On a side note.... got my OVtune registration code today, so well be cleaning up some mapping in the near future. Factory ecu didnt like me leaning it out with the afr caibrator on the cruise circuit so ill do it legit in the toyota fuel map this time.

Has anyone else done OVtune to their 2nd gen 2.7? I know lots of 3.5L and 4.0L threads

You're on the opposite side of the fence from me on that one. With the high boost valvetrain package from LCE I'm going to be aiming for 7k rpm or so. Obviously I'll be discussing this with the cam company I'm having regrind a custom profile for me to see if I'm being greedy.

I was thinking the same thing. Id like to increase the rpm. Im glad someone has the valve train kit already. Thats on my list.

Im definitely looking forward to seeing how your truck likes the added rpm! I wonder how hard it’d be to upgrade the valvetrain with the head still on the truck. Id like to change out the springs if its not too hard.

That’s exciting, keep us posted on how this goes. I am still debating on something like this that uses the stock ecu or a standalone.

I'm doing their high boost kit with the bigger valves, so definitely head off. But you should be able to change springs by doing the ol "string around the valve stem" trick.
