New one is V6 with the 9 speed in all trims. No 4 cyl, no manual.

    Good.

Like Zane said, gear ratio comes into play as well but the 9 speeds with I4's in FCA's lineup do not mate well unless it was an off-road variant Jeep Model IE Trailhawk.

This is a poor example because all of FCAs stuff is bottom tier engineering. They couldn't even weld a Jeep frame together properly this last go around. They've had one recent hit and it's the hellcat and they're gonna play it until everyone is tired of it.

Eh, as big as the small trucks have gotten in the past 10 years, I see why. The new Frontier boasts 310 HP, but Id bet it doesnt feel anywhere near as fast as it reads on paper. Cant imagine what a dinky 4 cyl with half the horsepower would feel like.

It's really the programming that goes into it; it's the same as any other modern vehicle - shifting characteristics adapt to match a driver's habits and driving style.

Thing is, there are too many variables to consider in a real world environment so you'll get some sloppy as shift, or firm 2 to 5, or some other crazy shit because it tried to adapt to your driving style.

When was the last time you drove a Nissan? Ive had the pleasure of having more than a few and Nissan does one thing Toyota doesn when it comes to their drivetrains. Response, they all respond like a pissed off gorilla. My sleepy pseudo luxury maxima, took off like a mofo with it's 210hp, my Pathfinder left other suvs in the dust with its 255hp, my last maxima was seriously fast even with the trash CVT and 285hp. They don't build everything as sleepy as Toyota does

You should see me building my tune for the 7 speed DCT in the BMW. I feel like I'm entering the matrix and I'm not even touching the automatic mode (cause who the fuck uses that in a sports car with a double clutch trans haha)

Well they've left Ram alone really as their shit is built elsewhere from other FCA vehicles.

Aisin transmissions in 1 ton's as well.

You just went back to one of the worst generations for chrysler quality and then bought the least desirable model from that range.

Yeah I remember you saying that holy shit...

I've tuned plenty of cars that I've owned, and helped dabble with others; they were all stickshift.

I couldn't begin to fuck with an automatic transmission.

It's pretty amazing how they integrate the two. But while I have given BMW lots of shit for their designs... The DCT is a stroke of genius, and leaving every module in the car tunable... Well now it doesn't feel like a money trap, it feels like lego and the only limit to what it can do is what you can imagine.

I'm really curious on this, why a second gen, why the gasser, why one with rust? This is like the trifecta of every dodge pickup I see in the junkyard. Second gens are usually just parts fodder to keep the ones with cummins stocked with parts.

Oh follow up question, is the dash cracked?

Truth be told, only drove a buddys sentra for a bit. The CVT felt like it wanted to explode upon acceleration. I dont remember it being remarkably quick or anything. My only other experience is with Toyota and my Acura.
Opens glovebox; entire lower dash breaks off. Factory says this is normal.
