SR5 Emblem

So I noticed that some 2011 Offroads do not have the SR5 label. Recession, bean counters...nobody probably cares anyways.

 

I'm glad it doesn't. As far as I've been told, it stands for Sport Rally 5 speed....but I drive a 6 speed?

 

I don't think it does... I also have a 6-speed manual and had the badge until I took it off. I would agree with ^

Aha, quite possibly.

From what I understand, the SR5 "back in the day" was quite a luxury item. Now-a-days, there are plenty of vehicles that come standard with a 6 speed, either auto or manual.

 

I've tried to figure out how I have a SR5 when I have power nothing and don't have color matched finders and bumpers.

 

Back in the day (like 1975 or so) SR5 was an option code on the HiLux truck (like Z28). The S denoted Sport, the R denoted the RN code engine and 5 denoted the 5 speed transmission. It proved popular and the SR5 designation was passed on to the Corolla's sporty version with the 5 speed (the 5 speed Celica was still the GT). Remember a 5 speed used to be something special, back when 3 on the tree and 4 on the floor ruled.
Now SR5 is just a package with cruise, variable speed wipers and chrome bumpers.

 

m truck is sporty, my transmission designation starts with an R, and i'm 5 speed. so does that make me a legit SR5? lol

 

My SR5 has neither cruise, variable speed wipers, or chrome bumpers.

Well I added factory cruise and wipers.

 

I looked in your photo gallery and sure as shit, I didn't see any of the exterior SR5 stuff, except The SR5 badge on your tailgate.
It's still a damn nice lookin' truck with the blacked out badges and the black alloy wheels.

I think Toyota mainly did it for cost cutting other than the fact that TRD's already have the SR5 package. Did you also notice that the Satelite antenna's are now black instead of color coded paint?

Had everything i wanted, didnt want to pay the extras of the sport/off-road that i didnt need.

not saying the sport/off-road are not good,

if you have the need then thats what your should get.
