vibration while braking?

i bought my truck brand new about a month ago. and ive noticed sometimes when i brake it feels like the back wheels are shaking. it mainly happens if i slow down to turn and occasionally when i come to a complete stop. is this normal or should i take it back to have them look at it?

& more info on the condition you describe , but yeah in any event if its still warranteed (month old obviously it is) Take it back to the dealer & document EVERYTHING its tedious & time consuming but can quite literally save your ass down the road if it isn't remedied... good luck..

 

its a 4 cylinder 5 lugger. has about 700 miles on it

it feels like the tires are out of balance when i brake. it only happens a few times. it is still warranted so ill give them a call tomorrow.

if it is the rotors how did they get warped so fast?

 

Just take it in if it under warranty. Hell they may even wash it for you.

 

Well, first off, you need to pin point where this vibration/noise is coming from, if its from the back, I doubt that it'd be rotors (even if it was 4 wheel disc brakes ) 80-plus percent of stopping power comes from the front brakes, those being disc , it is rare but on occasion sometimes if some very hard ,prolonged braking occurs you can heat the rotors too much.too quickly & warping and/or rotor "run out" can happen, but like I said , I'd def. take it back to the dealer before getting one fingernail greasy, that manu. warranty is a good chunk of what you pay for when buying a new vehicle, I was thinking maybe axle-wrap , your truck being so new (is it considered a 2010 or 2011 ?) I'd check into any TSB's being done to other year models like yours or any pending.... just my .02....good luck...

 

does this happen only when you brake really hard?

 

If it "only happens a few times", that could be a loose wheel or hub or some drivetrain part. Even a new low mile tire, that might have separated or was sidewall belt bruised, will feel like a intermittent warped rotor.

Definitely run it back down to the dealer and explain that.

You can warp rotors pretty fast, even when new and thick. they require easy break pedal applications for the first 500-700 miles,,but if this is a intermittent problem,,I would suspect something else. Warped rotors will shake the truck every time you put your foot on the brake pedal.

 

My rig does the low frequency vibration noticeably when slowing down from 50mph and above. I'm pretty sure it's warped rotors, since if I'm looking for it I can feel it at most other speeds.

 

I had my rear brake drums replaced as I noticed a vibe in the seat. Took care of most of the vibes from the truck. The entire rear brake drums are one piece replacements,take the service writer for a drive to feel it.

 

Having the truck looked at on Wednesday. I'll keep you guys posted.

I had to reschedule to a day I'm off work which is next wednesday but I'll be sure to update you guys on what they say.

 

i've noticed sort of the same thing except mine only tends to happen when im decelerating and the rpm reaches about 1000. i thought it was brakes too but then i felt it a couple of times when i wasnt touching the brakes. have you felt it at all when the brakes arent applied? mine just rolled over to 1000miles today. but ive only had it 2 weeks

 

Mine is just when I brake. I havent had a chance to take it in but I plan on doing it this week or next.

 

my 05 does the same thing. when I posted and asked everyone said either warped rotors or that its normal. I have the 4 cylinder also. But i dont know what it really is. Same symptoms as your saying. I'd be interested in seeing what toyota says to you
