Glad I didn't sell yesterday.

 

I used to play online poker until Black Friday, not as a living but certainly for profit. That was a money train that will forever be missed. I've never dabbled in the stock market. That is until last year when covid hit. For me, it was very similar adrenaline feel making some trades with money on the line. However can't bluff that's for sure. And when the stock market closes and they take your money after hours that always sucks.
So how'd I get started, in my small little experience? The top NRGU fan posted last year. I saw a shiny object, I'm a fly fisherman too, and I was ready to play. Problem was I know a lot less about stocks than poker. I wasn't scared though. Jumped right in and went up $2k. That didn't last too long and NRGU dropped. Some others dropped then I started trying to learn something more. Traded for around for a month or so and made up some those losses. Started trading too much for my account balance and got locked out from TDA for 90 days. But before the lockout I had visited stocktwits. Fortunately I stumbled upon FCEL thread. Bought 1500 shares for a couple bucks and still holding. Thank goodness for poking around on my own a little googling and research.
Then several months later, last week, I open this thread again,FU(K ME.... Why do I have to learn things the hard way? So that lead me to googling and the gme shitshow threads everywhere. That damn shiny object hooked me again and I got in at about $80. Last week was just like those poker days way back. We were taking so much money from the rich that were just getting into online poker. I was making 4 and five digits a couple days in row. Same thing last week. Felt unstoppable but I hadn't learned anything in those months in between. A few days of winning big digits last week and I started skipping work to stare at the stock market., I'm self-employed so that's not such a big deal. Wearing shorts and flip flops in winter and watching that cash come in, here we go again. Then Thursday hit and just like loosing with pocket aces back to back to back. Should've packed up my chips and cashed out. I sure didn't realize those magnificent gains for time invested but the takeaway has resonated deeply.

And as mentioned by a forum member here. Something along the lines of this experience will galvanize the necessity of knowledge to new investors.

Well there's a stupid lesson to learn... Told RH to Limit Sell Gamestonk at $50 to limit losses... Well I didn't notice the Stop Limit and Stop Loss order options.. then 20%

It keeps halting though, what is that about? It's stuck at 79.07 right now. Just sitting there, has happened a couple other times the last few minutes too.

 

Would've been nice to know this what the share price was $2 now it's a chase on the way back down

 

greed is the hardest enemy of the investor...
I MAKE myself take profits...Even if you lose out on MASSIVE gains..
I sold $AMD Calls over the summer...Locked in my money in a few days...
I was fine with profits..
and then...
$AMD went on the mother of all runs...Like once in a lifetime..
and those calls that I closed for $500 ran to $6,000 EACH.
AMD was in the $90's and I would have had the $50 calls...Basically 100 free shares for every 2 calls. It's an investors dream..
But I got my profits...
I sold off a bunch of my $BABA calls yesterday because the stock was giving me the same signal $AMD did back then and so many others have that tell me to take profits and don't get greedy...

 

Volatility rules. Percentage gain/drop in a 5 minutes period. It's normal and automated.

Redditors are trying to encourage people to space out their buying. Also someone made a good point - a lot of folks sold and left RH and are waiting for other brokers to activate their account or for funds to clear and once they get the greenlight will jump back in on GME. Reinforcements are coming boys. Buckle up
