yup. that's the goal in the summer... Housing market is destroyed by the rich fucks from Toronto center buying everything in hamilton.

Clear wide open lot not far by my house, 50x 70 feet at most. they want 600k for literally nothing on it.. and 1.1mk for a house on top of it....

Yikes... I think it's the Southern peeps doing that here too. The buyer that offered 70k over on the one house was someone from Bowmanville, and the next day it was listed for rent on kijiji...

Edit* Forgot to mention they offer cash too, so it's extra hard to compete with

I'm not even joking about this, it's rediculous. I was hoping to move out last year/ this year but the spot i wanted (builder) fell through and wouldn't be able to cover it on my own. then the Pandemic hits harder than a freight train and finding a place for myself that also has a driveway to do my own maintenance seems to be basically impossible...

last year Coworker was trying to move and found a nice place for about 450k. next morning some guy brings 550k in fucking cash and drops it at the home owners feet to purchase it.
    in cash.
who the fuck has over half a million in cash?

That is very frustrating, I can Imagine the Hamilton area is incredibly hard to source decent houses/prices right now, shit it was hard to do that pre-covid for you guys

I don't trust real estate agents. I think a lot of these bidding wars have over inflated bids by the agent. All to get a higher commission.

I predicted years ago that Toronto will be the cheapest place to buy a home/condo and I'm still sticking to that.
I can see real estate going up all around T. O. and if my predictions come true the prices in surrounding areas will surpass
Toronto. Lets see what happens post covid.....

yup. I'm in a 2018 and it sucks ass holding 5th at 3000-3500RPM for 3km all uphill...
I sway more to taking the skyway and up the redhill since the skyway isn't that bad and i can sit in the 4th lane to the right and coast down it. and the grade up the redhill is fairly soft and short.

I'm just going to put money into the cottage and live there with a half assed internet connection that way i can work from "home".

Start working as an "unregistered pharmacist" in the area you're looking to buy. You'll earn more money toward a down payment and the ensuing crime will lower the prices in the area, win-win. :rasta:

I don't even think that will stop the real estate freight train, If a world pandemic can stop the run away prices what can?

I was just advised to list it at double what I bought it for, and it will sell for more than that.

Looks like the time is right for me to sell it :fistbump:

wasn't that the shithole that was torn up, stuffed with trash, that looked like it hid a few dead bodies, and borderline a tear-down house?

Yep sounds about right.. I refresh Realtor.ca probably 25+ times a day hoping for something to be posted and I'm sure there's 100 others in the same boat.

FYI only one house posted today in a 40km radius

Good luck with purchasing a cottage. My buddy was trying to buy one last year (north of Muskoka) He’s upper limit was 500k. Anything reasonable that was listed in $400k was selling north of $500k and in some instances north of $600k. One place he mentioned was reasonably priced at $430k according to RE agent and sold for $650k cash.

i already have a parcel of land for a cottage, i just need to build the physical building, and I have one priced out to build as well and it's cheaper than anything down south here. It's literally just pulling the trigger for it and building. :p
